Hi all,

My wife and I received our government issued marriage certificate in Egypt and also had it translated from Arabic to English while living in Cairo.

The company we went through for translation service is iTranslate Group and each page on the translation has a stamp with the company name, logo, website, and “C.R.: 89306”, “ACDT: 0011-002” and “ISO.9001” on it. I’m not sure what all of the numbers mean but it looks official. Do you think there will be any issues with sending this marriage certificate translation in to IRCC?

Here is their website if it helps to determine their validity: https://www.itranslate-group.com

Did they accompany it with an affidavit? We had our marriage certificate in Arabic from Qatar and I got it translated with an affidavit from a certified translator in Ontario. I found them at a local multicultural council. Also, we had my husband's Egyptian police certificate translated there. It was not cheap!

I am not sure if IRCC accepts translations from any other organizations. I think it has to be done by a certified translator so I would get it done in Canada if you can.

Thanks for the helpful reply. Unfortunately we are not currently in Canada so that is not really an option for us but can we get the affidavit from another certified translation service to show that the existing translation is true? The original is included with the translation if they need to check it over to confirm for affidavit.

My wife is also wondering if the Egyptian embassy here can do the translation for us, as it is faster and less costly to go through them rather than a business, and we can ask them for an affidavit during their translation?

We are currently living in Kuala Lumpur.
Thanks again for the helpful advice as we get it sorted out.

Sorry, I am not entirely sure. But my sister married in Amman, Jordan and they did the translation at the Jordanian embassy and it worked for their application! So your best bet might be to get it done with the Egyptian embassy. Also, check if the Canadian embassy in Kuala Lumpur does translations. You never know. Canadian embassies often offer services to PRs and citizens.

Good luck!
