Does anyone know where you can get a full set of fingerprints (paper) done in Mexico - a place closest to Puerto Vallarta? They would be used for RCMP police certificate in Canada.

Hi!

Puerto Vallarta is in Jalisco state, so why don't you try calling the Delegacion Estatal of Jalisco? You can find their phone nr/address on this website:

http://www.pgr.gob.mx/Servicios/Directorio%20Delegaciones/directorio%20delegaciones.asp

Hope this helps!

We will try that. Could have got them done in Mexico City when he was there to get his federal police certificate, but cic didn't request a RCMP certificate until after he had already done that.
And some places will only do one finger, not a complete set.

It never seems to be easy, but I guess request for information means that things are moving along.

Also, the RCMP website states they only mail their reply. So does anyone know if you can have them mailed to a Canadian location and then we can courier them to Mexico? If they get mailed I am afraid it will take forever to get there.

An update to say we got the fingerprints done. Almost seems like they had the forms all along, just wanted to see some dinero! :)
But they are done now and sent away. Another step completed.

That's great news!! :)
Are you applying Outland through Mexico City?

I am actually posting for my son in law. And yes he is applying outland from Mexico City visa office. It is just easier sometimes to word the post as if I was the one applying. So if my posts are worded that way that is why. Are you also going through Mexico City?

Ohh, I see! Hope everything goes well! Seems like he is in the last stages of his application :)
I will be applying through Mexico City hopefully by the end of this month or beginning of Sept. I'm gathering all the docs needed, especially the police certificates as I want to send everything at once.

It is definitely a process just to gather everything together and get it in order. But it sure helps if you have it all. If you miss something then it slows things down - by the time they request the info, you send it - and then they review it -it all adds time.
In his case he didn't get his police reports done until they requested them, as posted on the cic website for Mexico. However he ended up having to do all the ones that he thought they would ask for (each state he had lived in for 6 months or more). I think for the federal one that you get in Mexico City you would have to wait because you need a letter from immigration stating why you need the report. That is my understanding of it...
Anyways, good luck in the process.

Hi!

I see what you mean that all docs must be sent so there will be no delays. We decided to gather everything, even the police certificates, and send it all at once. Besides, while we wait we're able to put our application in order, go through it a few times making sure everything is answered, explained, highlighted, signed, everything!
My parents will be getting the police certs for me. We have called a few times to PGR (for the federal police cert) and they didn't mention anything about a letter from immigration as a reason to ask for my police cert. I hope we won't have any surprises!
Thanks for the wishes! Hope everything goes smoothly for your relative too! :)

That's my understanding too (as acknowledged by the CIC website too). You can see the instructions from the PGR @ http://www.pgr.gob.mx/TransFoc/antecedentes%20registrales.asp (in Spanish). If you aren't living in Mexico, the Embassy of Canada in Mexico will process it for you (you'll get instructions asking you to submit all the documents to them) and then forward it to the processing office.

If you are in Mexico, the good news is that it is quite fast to get it. You'll get a letter from the Embassy of Canada in Mexico with a formal request to the PGR, and just need to go to the PGR to drop off copies of all your documents (take the originals too so they can verify that the copies are indeed true copies -- "cotejarlos") and then you get your prints taken. It's surprisingly painless!

Hi, OhCanadiana!

Thanks for your post!

I think I will be asking my parents to get the state police certificate only, and will let the Embassy of Canada in Mexico do the PGR one.
However, I would like to send them all the documents they need in my first application, so it might be faster to get the police certificate as they will already have the documents there when they need it.
I have all the documents, the only question I have is: do you have to send them originals of these documents? The PGR website says that they need to see the originals too, then would I need to send the originals to the embassy?

Thanks for your replies!

I understand that ideally you'd send everything up front. The problem is that Mexico will not issue a constancia de antecedentes penales without an official request from a government agency. The good news is that they commit to giving it to you within 2 weeks from the date of request (and often get it done in half that time!) so it really shouldn't represent any major delay in your application process when the time comes.

Hola, Im going to Mexico city next week to get my PGR stuff (I already have the letter from Embassy) and I wanna have it done ASAP.

OhCanadiana, you mentioned that sometimes they give you the "constancia de antecedentes penales" in half time!!??....will they let me know when do I have to go back for the letter??? because Im out of town and it would be great to have that letter sooner.

I wonder why RCMP asked for fingerprints too?? I lived in Canada for 3 years, will they request my fingerprints too??? really hope not...I dont want more delays on my papers.
The other thing they might request from me are my medical exams since they will be expiring soon :(

It is up to immigration if they ask for a police report from Canada. In some cases they do and others they don't. If you are in Canada you can have them done electronically and have the results in 72 hours or less if nothing shows up on your record. That's nice and fast. But if you have to do them "paper method" the waiting period is 120 days or more, and then longer if something shows up on the records.

For the PGR in Mexico City my son in law went in and they told him 5 to 10 business days to get the results. His took 5 days. Luckily his aunt lived close to the embassy in Mexico City, so he gave permission for her to pick them up for him and then she forwarded them to him. Saved him a trip back to Mexico City.
The Mexican state police certificates were pretty quick too. No more than a day or two.

So i guess he is left waiting on the RCMP to do their job now.

Officially it still takes the 2 weeks. However, they'll suggest you call back sooner to check if it's finished as most of their constancias have been going much faster. Good luck!!!
