Hi guys another question

Pr card is still in maiden name. But DL and HC and SIN have been changed to married name at service ontario and online service Canada

will it be likely that IRCC use my maiden name for my citizenship application all through the certificate even though I have provided proof that I changed my name on provincial IDs and attached my marriage certificate on my application?

THey should use your name as you request it (fill in the forms etc) as long as you provide the supporting evidence.

If they don't though - no big deal, you can still apply for passport with updated name (use marriage cert). And then update the citizenship certificate if you really want (or do what everyone else does, stick it in a drawer and never use it again).

Thank you for your response. So since my AOR has my maiden name on it will it be likely that IRCC will use my maiden name all throughout the application?

I am checking because if it is, i may be able to book flights using may maiden name even if my citizenship isn’t done yet. I’m just playing safe here so that when i book my tickets the name on it will be the same even if my cotizenship finalizes before my flight. You think it’ll be ideal to do that?

I cannot say for sure about the AOR aspect.

You do not use your citizenship to travel - you use your passport. And as I said: you absolutely can get Canadian passport in your married name (supported by cit. certificate in maiden name + marriage certificate / other ID).

So if it were me, I'd get tickets in married name. (With caveat that you cannot know in advance how long to get citizenship)

Thank you so much. Its the uncertainty of the processing timeline that is making it hard to decide. Also, trying to book tickets earlier is the best decision as to not pay a hefty amount of money for our flights. I’ll probably just wait around september or october and see where my application’s at then I’ll decide. Thanks a lot.

Also, i have been seeing some post on other fb groups about how theirs was processed withing 3monthss :( i can’t help but feel jealous knowing mine won’t take that quick as its been a month since receiving AOR and no test invite yet.

I don't know your situation exactly. You can book tickets under the name in your current (non-Cdn) passport. You can show that to the airline to identify who you are.

Then when you return to Canada (assuming that's what's going on) after you get your Canadian passport - you show that to demonstrate you have the right to enter/return to Canada.

Airlines are now familiar with dual citizenship. It's also not even rare for people to have different names on docs - just take a copy of your marriage certificate to demonstrate 'you is you.'

So really - no issue.
