It has been 2 weeks since I have attended the Oath Ceremony. I have not received the Citizenship Certificate yet.

My file from the online tracker is still showing "In Progress"...

I have written to the email that I supposed to send my signed Oath form to. No replies at all.

They said 2- 4 weeks. They also said that we can reach out to them if 6 weeks has passed and we don't receive the certificate. So I guess we have to be patient.

From what I see in the other thread, it needs to CLOSE. Thats important. Till it closes, the certificate is not mailed out. I hope I am wrong but that is what I read in the other threads.

My citizenship application status (new tracker) is now closed with the "Congratulations message".

I have yet to receive my citizenship certificate in the mail though.

And the next step is passport, which may take a few more months...

are we allowed to record our screen ourselves ?
The reason why they are telling you not to record is the fact that they do not want you to breach the privacy of someone else. I have seen, however, people doing their recording posted on YouTube but they do not show the screen just their participation.

I signed the petition even though investing more money into a new system or increasing number of staff will not have big impact what need to be done is eliminating brocracy.

Our timelines are similar. So hopefully we will have something in the mail in the next week or so!

I am grateful that I got the Oath ceremony around a year after applying (since there are people who still have not received Oath or test invite). However this whole process is long and painful. Just when I think its all over, another 2-4 weeks (or maybe more) to get certificate. Then currently there are passport delays of about 8 weeks - So another 2 months to get passport.

Then since I am of Indian origin, I have to surrender my Indian citizenship - That is another 2 more months. Then I have to apply for OCI (Indian Permanent Residency) - Another 2 more months. The damn thing never ends!

Many congratulations on getting your Canadian Citizenship! Correct me if I am wrong. But, I think you can have a passport in two days' time if you pay a little premium for the same and are able to show proof of your travel. Are you saying that the timeline has changed for their express service as well?

Also, when exactly are we supposed to surrender our Indian passports? Let us say I get my Canadian citizenship certificate after completing the oath ceremony and travel to India using an Indian passport. Would that be a problem? How is the Indian government going to know whether one has become a Canadian Citizen or not? The only problem I see is that entry into Canada without a PR card or passport would be a little problematic. Do they get you to tear up your PR card during the Oath ceremony?

I need to travel to India for some work and the citizenship ceremony has held me up somehow.

We have our oath ceremony scheduled for June 1st but my spouse and I are currently residing in different cities. Can we attend a virtual oath ceremony in our own respective cities? Or is it required to be together for a virtual oath from the same location?

Does CIC send a separate zoom link to every family member separately on their email? If yes, then will it allow me and my wife to use our own zoom link to attend the virtual oath from our respective cities?

Please advise.

You can attend from different places. I assume you are inside Canada.
I dont know if adults get different passwords for same oath link. But either case it doesnt matter.

Consulates dont really have training or deliberately not telling us about the 3 months grace period like as usual. They just stick to same slogan of "you need to surrdence after acquiring citizenship" or dont want to encourage in surrender delays. But they will allow to surrender passport after years and with penalties if Indian passports are used after acquiring foreign citizenship. So surely people travel but one should avoid traveling with both country passports to India.
Surely no country trumpets or gives access to citizens' name list. Other country can only validate the passport.

Yes, we are in Canada. So if the password is same then can we use the same zoom link for the family so it can adjust all of us in a single zoom screen?

Its same link for everyone in that call for that batch of 50-100+ people. But i dont know if password is issued for each adult, possibly i think they will as people used to ask if they can join on one of the family member's call. So you both can log at different places.
