Hey guys. I'm still IP from July 2018, but my agent has a job lined up for me to travel with a private family to the States. I know you can apply to haste ones application for this kind of thing. What to do? Do I call them and send them the contract? Any advise would be appreciated. Thanks in advance

  1. Would appreciate if someone can help answer my question regarding citizenship form question 12b. I moved to Canada in 2015. Do I enter it as below:

2018 -> required to file (yes) -> taxes files (no)
2017 -> required to file (yes) -> taxes files (yes)
2016 -> required to file (yes) -> taxes files (yes)
2015 -> required to file (yes) -> taxes files (yes)
2014 -> required to file (no) -> taxes files (no)

    or like this:

2018 -> required to file (yes) -> taxes files (no)
2017 -> required to file (yes) -> taxes files (yes)
2016 -> required to file (yes) -> taxes files (yes)
2015 -> required to file (yes) -> taxes files (yes)
meaning no mention of the fifth year since I was not in Canada.

    And do I start with 2018 or 2017 ?

  2. Can we send the whole family application in one big envelope including separate envelope for each member with documents?

Hi Folks,
I have few questions,
1) "Certificate of Canadian Citizenship" serve as proof of our Canadian citizenship, right ?
2) When we received "Certificate of Canadian Citizenship", our photo was not attached to it but it was kept in a file, should we still keep the photo as a part of it ?
3) Do we have to apply anything else other than Canadian passport after receiving Canadian citizenship?
4) Babies born in Canada are citizens by birth and they will get their Canadian birth certificate and passport , do we still need " Certificate of Canadian Citizenship" for them ?
5) When we travel outside of Canada, do we have to carry "Certificate of Canadian Citizenship" apart from our Canadian passport ?

Thanks in advance !

1) Yes
2) Keep everything together. Your other photo is with your file retained by them so it's best to keep it the way it is.
3) No if your question is for travelling purpose.
4) No
5) No

As an aside. When I got my certificate there was no photo in it, just a see through document sleeve with the certificate and a letter from the Prime Minister. I think the only thing you have to worry about is keeping the certificate safe.
When I went to the passport office, they stressed the need to keep the cert safe because if I ever lost my passport, as a naturalised citizen, I would need my citizenship certificate to validate my identity and they can take several months to obtain copies of.

That's interesting to know. Maybe different provinces have different way to process citizenship certificates. I thought it's always supposed to come as a certificate and the photo in a sleeve.
I didn't get the PM letter either, lucky you!

Do we receive oath invitation letter in physical mail or we receive an email ? Thanks

Also, do we know the frequency of oath ceremony in Toronto ?

Its weird, usually its by email as most of applicants received it!
Nope we got 2 pink color paper (notice and photo consent) and a white color paper showing the google map !! Initially online status showed we have to appear for the oath on so and so date and we didn't receive any email, so I panicked and call CIC and the agent asked me to go for the oath without any notice as they will have my information and the agent had confirmed our time and date as well , so i was a bit relieved but after 2 days we received the package (notice) in our mail.
