not all visa offices send AOR2's, so it's not essential to get one.

My husband is a permanent resident in Canada, so he will be sponsoring me. I'm from Philippines. Here in the Philippines, you can get passport as long as you have complete requirements even if there is no request in embassy or immigration. I read in cic that there is a step which requires you or they will send you a "passport for visa request". So may point here is that, Is it ok if I get Philippine passport in advance for my preparation even if my husband will start my spousal sponsorship on August?
it's the right time now to get a passport coz it takes days or month for the release of it.. in your application there is photocopy of passport to be submitted along w other documents.. and when embassy ask for your passport for visa stamping at least you are ready.. :-)

Hi,
on the 11 of June I went to the border and did the Flagpole!
now I do have the Permanent residence stamp in my passport ... the officer said: Canada is now you home :) he was really emotional! ;)
I do have to wait 3 week or so for the PR card!

Could I look for a job and get my SIN number before I have this PR card in my hand or only after? also the health card could I apply for or after 3 month only?

thanks!
hope everyone lese will get it done so quick! I never thought it would be that fast and easy! I would it done it so much earlier ... but I was just scared to do the paperwork and to wait maybe over a year? :) well it is done and I am really happy right now!

Hi, you don't need your PR card to get a SIN# or apply for most provinces' healthcare (you will want to confirm which province you are in).

For your SIN#, you need to go to a service canada office in your area. All you need is your COPR and passport.

If you are in ontario, and you are applying for OHIP, your COPR and passport will count as 2 of the 3 required documents to apply. you will need to go to service ontario's website to look at the required document list and see what is required for proving residency. the list is very strict. You can then take everything to the service ontario office in your area to apply.

Basically, in most provinces, the COPR and passport work for everything you need a PR card for (this is true for Ontario). There are some exceptions to this rule, as some people have posted about issues in some provinces.
