Question: I'm thinking about calling CIC Monday to inquire about my SA approval...am I, the sponsor, ok to call or does it have to be the PA? It's me that they are approving at this point...

you as the sponsor will have to make the call. they will not release information about your file to anyone but you or the person you added as a "authorized representative" for your file. you would have filled out a form for your package if you added a representative. if you didn't fill out that form, only you can get info about your file. they will not release sponsor approval info to principal applicants unless they are an authorized representative.

if you are waiting for Sponsor Approval, then all that CIC will be doing with the principal applicant's application is checking that it is complete - meaning that there are not any missing forms are signatures. They are NOT reviewing the applicant's application at this time for anything else. AOR means basically that there are no missing forms or signatures and that the application has been received - nothing more. SA means the sponsor has been approved and the other application is forwarded to the visa office. There is still possibility the principal applicant will receive additional requests from cic when their application is picked up for processing. Until you actually get your COPR, there is always a chance for additional requests.

Wow. So the expiry is more than 9 months..... Thanks for telling us. Congrats again. Did you make a list of things you're bringing over?

In my case the COPR expiry is one year from the medical date. Thank you .

For the person who asked if I'm filling out a B4, I will be printing it soon but I won't be filling it out until I'm in the U.S. CBSA doesn't care about the goods already in Canada and I don't really remember exactly what I have in storage, so I'm going to do a quick inventory when I go pick everything up. it's not much though, just 2-3 boxes.

Since we have SA, the sponsor won't be receiving anymore emails correct? From this point forward all emails are sent to the PA. So what emails can be expected? Is there one for DM or COPR or anything else I may be forgetting besides an email that may be requesting more documents or the pr fee?

Correct, the sponsor shouldn't receive any more emails after SA. There is no email for DM or COPR. For people who are visa-requiring they will get a passport request. Any correspondence requesting additional documents for you will be sent to the PA, including if you still need to pay the RPRF fee (which you can submit before they ask). Americans through Ottawa don't get a passport request. One person was asked for a scanned copy of their passport, but I suspect that was because of an issue with the one provided with the application.

it will depend what visa office the application is forwarded to. Some Visa offices send a second AOR to the applicant, most do not. other emails that can be received - ie: additional requests such as: additional relationship proof, updated Background form (i forget the form number, but it's quite common for some visa offices to request updated info); an interview invitation; passport request (for some visa exempt applicants, the passport request can be waived), request for RPRF payment.

No, there is no email for DM or the COPR. The COPR comes in the mail through regular post, if visa exempt. If the applicant requires a visa, then the PPR letter will have instructions about sending it for the counterfoil and will be returned with the COPR.

Secondly, my flight to Van from Melbourne was delayed by 2 hours and i missed my connection so now stuck in LAX witing for my onward flight to Vancouver via Denver. With time to kill, I thought I'd check my eCAS and it has updated to in processing. Only 2 lines so far, but can only assume that means we have sponsor approval! Will let you know when and if we receive SA in an email.

Bad start to our holiday with a 9 hour delay in LA and Denver but good news on the visa front! Maybe I'll find out details at immigration when I enter Canada in a few hours.

Good ;D. Have fun on your vacation. You should be getting an SA email/letter any day now. CPC-M tends to send them late. You could also call them and ask for a status update and then ask what VO it was forwarded to.

Good to know. My husband is from a visa exempt country so I guess that if there is no email about the DM or COPR then it will show up on Ecas. Is DM always positive? I just want to know soon so we can give notice to people and do the things we gotta do to move. Thank you!
