Hi All!

Hoping to be joining this group soon as well! Canadian sponsoring my German Husband. He lives here with me right now while on an IEC visa. We're looking to file within the next week or so, just have to translate his police cert, get his photos done and check over all our forms.

Can't wait to get the application sent! Our Visa office would be Vienna, unless they sent it to Ottawa...

I'm going to pay all the fees upfront. We don't plan on moving till March or April of next year but we'll see how things go. Going through Rome.

Probably go through Ottawa. Seems that CIC send files to country of residence but theres always a chance.

Yeah, its $1040 in total I think. I paid all mine upfront too. Save waiting a couple of weeks. We're moving next March too regardless of if I have a visa or not because our Australian visas will have expired! Getting my meds tomorrow and hoping my UK police cert comes tomorrow. Waiting on my wife's tax assessment/option C too but that's been 2 weeks so far and still nothing.

Ugh, I feel like time has slowed down a lot since I sent off my application.

How soon would I expect to have my application returned if something is missing? I assume once I get AOR that I won't have to worry about that anymore.

yeah it gets antsy waiting once its in. i remember that from when i did my previous applciation.

once you get AOR, SA doesnt take long after that according to timelines.

Give it 1-2 months until you hear anything. at least you know its there!

It is better to stay here in the forum,it is easy to see what previous applicants went through and even the future applicants can get help from our experience.

still just waiting on my wifes notice of assessment (option C) form - its been about 2.5 weeks for that, and my UK police cert - about 3 weeks waiting for that.

Good luck. I'm waiting of translations and the consulate. Waiting is awful. Let's hope everything gets done quickly and smoothly.

We are going to pay the fees upfront as well, seems like the way to go from what everyone says! We just did my husband's 8 photos as well, so another thing down

Finally got the translations today. They are stamped with the affidavit as well. I'm waiting for a call from the consulate for an appointment so we can certify the photocopies. I want to make sure that we are certifying the things we need to. So do we just need to certify the photocopy of the Marriage certificate? I'm also going to ask him to certify the photocopy of his birth ceritificate. Do we need him to certify the translations too? What about the passport photocopies? Please just tell me exactly what should be certified. Thanks!

From what I understand, and please someone correct me if I'm wrong, but if you are submitting the original document that was translated, and the translation has the affidavit then you are good to go, they basically certify the translation that they did. If you submit a photocopy of a document that is translated, the photocopy has to be certified. I believe that a photocopy of a document that is already in either English or French does not need to be certified.

Thanks for answering I have some photocopies of translated documents like the marriage certificate and birth certificate. I'm not including the originals of these, but am going to certify the photocopies because they are photocopies. Then I have the original police certificates and the translations. I hope I don't have to certify the translations by the consulate as well but I don't know. Then I have the photocopies of the identity card and passport. These can be easily understood by someone who's not Italian but since they are photocopies, I thought that they should be certified. Let me know what you guys think.

As I'm Canadian by birth, I'm thinking that my passport photocopy and other photocopies don't need to be translated.
