I think it should really be 50+ days more accurately. That's what the average seems to be on here at least right now. There are several people including myself at 50+ days and only a few people lately have received SA faster.

milac, i updated your color on the spreadsheet to show you have it, just punch the date in when you know.

Really goes to show that the 43 day estimate is a load of baloney!

cheer up dude, dont be that desperate, it's only 60 days. It took me 188 days to get my pr card while others just waited for like 40 days. And before I got my card I was like an illegal immigrant - no drivers license, no health card, no other photo ids, even my wife holding a short term working visa got her drivers license!

Try not too put too much focus on this. I believe you'll get some response soon!
Huh? Can one not apply for a driver's license and health card before receiving the PR card? I thought one can apply for the health card and driver's license once landed with the landing documents, no?

It depends. In BC you cannot apply for a driver's license before you get your PR card because the COPR is not considered an acceptable document. You can apply for health care though. In Ontario, you can get a driver's license with COPR. It just depends.

Exactly, and although we can have MSP coverage, there's no way we can get the health card because it's now combined with BC driver's license.

Yep, I don't know why they don't consider the COPR to be an acceptable document.

Oh! So by the time PR card is received, the international drivers license may already expired. Will be forced to take public transit. Better make sure we'll rent a place with easy access to train/bus stations.

Are you sure? What about for people who don't care to get a license to drive or just takes a long time to pass the tests?

Even if you're only getting an ID card, you still have to wait until you have your PR card.

I used to have BC drivers license and I was just there as a temporary resident. SO long as your country has a reciprocal deal with canada, then you can transfer your drivers license to a canadian one.

That's not completely true. While it's possible to get a BC driver's license if your country has a reciprocal program, you still have to have an accepted document to get one. You can have an OWP or other temporary visas/permits to get a BC driver's license, but the COPR is not accepted. Therefore, you cannot get a BC driver's license until you have the actual PR card. http://www.icbc.com/driver-licensing/visit-dl-office/Pages/Accepted-ID.aspx

If a person doesn't already have a BC license and has landed in Canada, they can't get one under any temporary resident visa/status/permit, because they are no longer a temporary resident. They are a permanent resident, but won't have the required ID until the PR card arrives.

When using the ID wizard it states:
"Bring one of the following:

Valid Permanent Resident Card (must not be expired)

or

Canadian Record of Landing/Canadian Immigration Identification Record (form IMM1000 only)"

The latter is not the same as a COPR.

Ouch! So my partner will just be like an illegal immigrant with the PR card. Can at least work with the SIN (provided the employer is right next door, hah!)?

BC doesn't except her DL transfer so she needs to start from the beginning, thus that takes months.

Wait... does it mean her name can't get on the rental lease without all these IDs? OMG! We only plan to rent a 1 month stay via airbnb and need to find a longer term lease rental within the first month.
