i am not familiar with how to get approved as conjugal, as you are right - it is the hardest to prove. i belive what's essential to prove is an ongoing relationship that can't be enjoyed in person because of a SIGNIFICANT barrier to seeing eachother. I believe generally, the only "barrier" CIC cares about is when the couple can't visit eachother's country because of visa refusal. This must be proven to be an ongoing issue (multiple denials) Since you are male/female, i'm sure it's harded to prove marrying eachother is illegal in your home country. If you and your spouse are visa exempt from eachother's country, then it will be very hard to prove a "barrier" to marriage or commonlaw. Not being togther because of financial or job related reasons will not qualify you for conjugal. so the first question you need to consider is what is your significant "barrier" to being together?

Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone can shed some light...

I received SA on July 18. The email said:

"You have met the requirements for eligibility as a sponsor. Accordingly, the Application for PermanentResidence for your relative(s) has been forwarded to a visa office abroad for further processing.

Should you need to submit additional information or make any further enquiries regarding the
Application for Permanent Residence for your relative(s), you may contact the office indicated below
by e-mail, fax, or in writing as follows:

CPC Mississauga, Attention: FCPAPR
P.O. Box 6100, Station A
Mississauga, ON
L5A 4H4
E-mail: cpcm-fcpapr@cic.gc.ca
Fax number: (905) 803-7392"

My fiance is a New Zealander, and so we are expecting his application to be sent to Sydney. However there is no mention of the Visa office in the email. It just says that it has been sent abroad.

His status online still says:

We received application for permanent residence on April 17, 2014.

We started processing application on July 18, 2014.

Medical results have been received.

Is this strange, that we haven't been informed of the Visa office? I just worry that the application is still sitting in Mississauga, despite the fact that the letter says it's been forwarded abroad.

Thanks!

yes, that is strange. i would send an email back to confirm the application is indeed being sent to syndey. Also, the call center may be able to help figure that out. I've read some agents have been helpful in this situation. they do sometimes make mistakes in their correspondence.

the "abroad" part is standard in these letters. so really that doesn't mean anything.

The real question is figuring out what the "PA" in FCPAPR stands for. i assume the other letters mean family class & permanent residence. I would suggest creating a new thread and asking this question so that experts are sure to see it, and include the information you have shared here. The last thing you need right now is the app being filed wrong and having time wasted.

Good idea! I've just created a thread, and emailed them back.

Hopefully it was just an oversight when writing the letter. Fingers crossed!

hi rhcohen2014,

here's our case:

sponsor (m): from philippines but canadian passport; previously married in phl but recently granted divorce in canada since divorce is not applicable in phl;
applicant (me - f): from phl and now residing in abu dhabi for 9 yrs; single

- both come from same home town in phl and been schoolmates in grade school
- visited me here in abu dhabi once; i wasn't able to pay him a visit in canada - TRV denied twice; hence, we see each other and live together every year for vacation (1 month) for 3 straight years
- we cannot get married here since we follow phl laws -officiated by phl embassy (his status in phl is still married); this is a muslim country so cohabitation is not allowed

above are some details which we pointed in applying as conjugal partner.
hi... i saw this the first time you posted, and i am not sure why you are addressing it to me AND reposting the same day, in the same thread directly below the first post? i am not sure how i am suppose to respond or why? there is no question in your post, nor am i an expert in conjugal relationship applications. it seems as though you have legitimate "barriers" to being together, so all you can do is wait for CIC to respond to your application. i am not an immigration consultant, attorney or officer. i am a pr applicant who reads this thread and shares the knowledge given from others. i just happen to have no life at the moment and respond quickly to information i am familiar with.

so no matter what i say it doesn't matter. all that matters is what CIC thinks of your application, and i am not privy to that information, nor will i know what is going on with your application. beyond that, i can not help. kindly stop posting the same message, as it is considered spamming the forum, and as you can tell it is a huge petpeeve of mine.

good luck with your application!

Something similar happened to us - my partner is a Kiwi as well and when we received our SA letter, it indicated that the application had been sent "abroad" to Ottawa-CPC, rather than Sydney. The call centre wasn't able to tell me anything other than "some applications get sent to Ottawa instead. I sent an email to Ottawa which went unanswered, and about a month later my partner got an email saying his application had been received by the Sydney office. I think they originally made a mistake, and sent the application to the proper VO when they realized. We haven't heard anything since. My partner had spent a year in Canada on a working holiday so that may have had something to do with it? Best of luck to you! Fingers crossed for a speedy process.

Hello I received the exact same message and have pretty much the exact same start of processing date. I should be the Sydney office but they have not specified as such anywhere.
They started processing my application July 16th and on July 18th they requested an additional document that I did not need to send originally, then a few days later they withdrew this request. I was asked to send this form to Mississauga so now I am thinking maybe my application is getting processed through Ottawa also. I still reside in Canada so that is perhaps why.
The email address that requested the document did have the CPCM-FCPAPR letters in it. I have not received notification that my application arrived anywhere specific and my application status does not say anything about my medical being received.

Have you found out any more about your application Chelcar21??

Hi!

So strange, but also a bit comforting to know that ours is not the only application that seems to be going this way. It's a bit reassuring that this wasn't an accident, nor is our application lost somewhere.

I did contact the CIC and received the following:

Dear Sir/Madam,

This is in response to your email (see below).

Your relative’s application is being processed at CPC-Mississauga.

If additional documents are required, our office will contact you or the applicant.

Regards,

CPC Mississauga

I also called to confirm (I was worried that they were processing it as an Inland application accidentally), and the man I spoke to told me that it looks like Mississauga is processing it WITH Sydney. I asked if it would eventually be sent to Sydney and he said yes, but he seemed pretty unsure.

I've read on here that Sydney seems to have slowed down, I have to wonder if Mississauga is helping to load off some of the applications?

I hope so, and I hope it goes fast (a.k.a, I hope it doesn't get sent to Sydney on top of this) for all of us!

I am glad you asked the question about inland by error as I was wondering the same thing. Do you know ...(I am sure I can search in the forum but you might already have searched) ... what is the current time frame for Mississauga?? My visa allowing me to stay in Canada during this process expires in January. It wouldn't be the worst thing to be forced back home to visit my friends and family BUT it would be nice to know if that will be the case and how long for!!

i don't think any information you find on mississauga processing would have any relevance to your application. mississauga is now handling inland applications, so my guess any posted time will reflect those applications or the sponsor eligibility portion of the outland application. in the grand scheme of things, there is only a small percentage of outland applications staying in mississauga for processing (australian applications), and this is to relieve the workflow of an overseas visa office. this is not something that has recent precedence, so it will be hard to determine how your processing will go. by all accounts, i assume they will need to follow the rules specific for the australian visa office, which is far different than inland processing.

This is really interesting to me. I wonder what is happening with Sydney. We are still waiting for PPR however someone only about 10 days before us recieved PPR in June and CORP already! I would have thought we were not far behind but I was so wrong!! I ordered GCMS notes and they are due in a few weeks hopefully it will shed some light on things.

We can't leave till January anyway due to kids in school and family wanting to have one last Christmas with us but it would have been nice to stop stressing about this whole immigration stuff and be able to plan better to move as we have a house to sell ect... Just hope whatever is happening it gets sorted out soon.
