Hi Guys, anyone here who are in BC, i'm from Chilliwack, near Abbotsford and Vancouver. And I'm planning to do my flagpole tomorrow. But i want to know which boarder is best to go to. I've heard a lot of bad experiences in Sumas Boarder Crossing. Do you guys know where else I can go to? And of you can tell me your experiences I would really appreciate it. Thanks!

I live in Vancouver and I flagpoled at Peace Arch last week Friday. It was pretty straight forward and the officer was very approachable and helpful. It took us only about 20 minutes.

Hi All:

I got my next communication from CIC in December which reads:

We started processing your application on December 9, 2013

Any estimates - when should I expect passport request?
From the tracking sheet it seems like it takes 4 months to get the passport request.

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL MY FRIENDS.
Yes, around 4 months from 'in process'

I'm a little confused, I've had a few friends that have got PR while in Canada on PNP and weren't asked for the passports, but I see other people on here that are in Canada and have had PPR.

As I'm at this point I'm wondering will I be asked for my passport or like my friends will I get DM without PPR.

If you require visa to come in Canada then you will get PPR. If you are from a visa exempt country like say Taiwan or some European then you wont get PPR, instead you get COPR directly ( you maybe asked to email photocopies of your passport before they send you COPR)

I'm from the UK so when ever I came to Canada in the past on holiday I got a visa on entry at the airport e.g. a stamp in my passport.

Trying to find a visa exempt countries list.

I 99% sure British applicants don't get PPRs.

In one way I wish we did as once you have PPR you know you are in. When I see DM I'm going to be stressing until I get a letter saying I've got PR.

Nice one. I would be worried if it turns to DM and I didn't get PPR.

Just to share my experience with Canadapost.

It says on the website that my package has been sucessfully delivered, but i didn't receive it, no one called my apartment to ask for a signature. So i went downstairs and checked my mailbox and NO PACKAGE inside.

I called their customer service and was told to call CPP-Ottawa! WTF!! So i called the delivery facility to look for the stupid delivery guy but no one was answering. So i went there and filed a complaint, the guy said that the driver should have asked for a signature! I said no one bothered to call my apartment and i was there the whole day!
He saie they will talk to their supervisor to investigate on where my passport was delivered so they will have to talk to the delivery guy tomorrow since he's not there anymore.

I was so frustrated because i had to go home empty handed. When i got to the apartment building my neighbor was checking his mail box and i just asked him, can u check your mail, since i'm missing a letter. And lo and behold! It was my Xpresspost! The freakin' delivery guy put it in the wrong mailbox! Good thing i asked my neighbor! I was already thinking of knocking on all my neighbor's doors just to ask them to check their mails..

Thank God i found my passport!! I will still file a complaint against Canadapost, first they delivered my package to Ottawa LATE! And now this! It's so frustrating!

I'm just relieved that my passport didn't go missing for days!

So for the rest who has not sent their passports yet, you'd better think very carefully if you will trust canadapost or not.. It was a very bad experience for me.. I don't want you guys to have the same experience.

Sorry to hear that. At least call and complain to get your money back

That is why I never bother to buy the signature stamp or register mail. I only buy xpresspost if I need to mail it fast. No point. They also tost your mail on balcony under rain or snow. So for important mail, i either send it to a PO box or my relative address where I know it is a house and my grandma always look outside to know if someone isbapproaching the door (she always sit beside the window and watch TV)

right now, I hope I could get my passport back ASAP. and Canada Post could do it by right way.
