I applied in April. Application received on April 10, 2012 and the fee was charged on my credit card on April 17th.

I applied in 1st April. The money cashed in 19th April but no more communications.
What about yours?

When should we expect a file number or initial acceptance?

I believe the next step is receiving AOR ... and it seems that AOR may take up to 3 months.
Somebody mentioned that we can check our status online; I tried but couldnt get anywhere with it ... perhaps because my file has been received but CIC hasnt started processing it.

Hey ... any April 2012 applicant heard back from CIC yet? I am slightly concerned about what kind of impact closure of Buffulo Consulate will have on our applications!

I sent my documents on April 20th and the CIC received it on April 23rd. Checking your status online doesn't bring up anything how ever I did call CIC and they confirmed that they received my application. I would highly recommend that you guys give cic a call just to confirm if they received your documents are not. They are able to check that for you. Also its a good way to update your information on their system if necessary.

I also thought we should have a file number so they can find details about our applications !!

Hi I am still a newbie to CEC here but what does AOR here stand for?!
BTW, I applied CEC in mid April too but is yet waiting for a number I guess ...

AOR stands for Acknowledgement Of Receipt, CIC send this to the applicants who passed the screening and completeness of the application. AOR also contains the file number of the applicant

So once the AOR is received, MD usually comes after eh~?!

I know my next question could be result of case by case, but does anyone know how long in average can we get MD & approval for PR after?!

BTW, ppl from May 2012 application said Buffalo Visa office is closed ...
All files are forwarded/transferred to Ottawa for review ...

January applicants recieved their AORs around end of April - Mid May. April Applicants should expect to receive their AOR's probably mid or end of july.

Awe ... in this case I better stay quiet for another month but hope to receive AOR ASAP tho ...
On the CIC Processing time for CEC is 15 months (http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/times/perm-ec.asp) ...

Is it an estimation AFTER AOR is received ... ?! Or from the date you filed ... ?!
Anyhow, hope for the bests to you all ... !!!
