You can know when they received by your Canada Post or other Courier tracking no.

Hi guys,

I just wanted to post about something that has really angered me. No, it is not directly related to CIC. It's to do with international shipping companies. I received a quotation from a company here in China for sending 1CBM from China to Canada (by sea). The price quoted was more than USD$ 2,000! If you have ever shipped things before, you would know right away that this price is absolutely ridiculous. I couldn't believe it...for 1CBM by sea the price should be about USD$ 300-500 max! I suspect that because it was I who asked for the quote, they thought..."Aha! Rich white guy will pay a lot more!!"

Anyway, I just wanted to let others know to be very cautious when dealing with shipping companies. A lot of them are thieves and will try and cheat you. Shop around and read reviews before paying any money!

My wife found a company that would take care of everything for about USD$ 500. We haven't thoroughly investigated yet, but we are pretty sure we can get a better price.

Very annoying!

On the brighter side...we had dinner at the new Marriott here in Guangzhou. Amazing buffet! We took our son with us and he was an absolute superstar! Excellent food, service, everything...The only downer is I'm going to have to exercise for about a week straight to work it off...just looking at food and I seem to gain weight!!

Hello,

An update for the spreadsheet. We have, in a roundabout way, received AOR from our visa office (London) today. As we are Québec-bound, they have sent us an email advising to seek approval from the Québec government. We have already done this so there is no further action to take until we receive it. But good to know the VO has our package. Timeline: application was received April 19th, sponsor approval and file transfer on July 12th.

Hooray!!! Just got the email we have been waiting for, cant believe it...after an anxious few months of waiting and papers returned and resent, Im happy to say we have been approved for stage 1 ;D ;D ;D oh happy days
