Here's some "movement".

It turns out that the visa office in Japan essentially turned around the passport with visa in a single day, and mailed it off on October 5. They sent it as a trackable mail item, but not requiring signature or by courier etc. It turned up on October 12, and then, in one of life's little magical moments, the attempt-of-delivery notification simply never got into our hands.

It was only because I'd asked our MP to look into it that I learned all of this. The visa office (which doesn't respond to applicant emails) told the MP's office the tracking number and I've managed to find the thing still at our local post office. They apparently never tried to contact us about the failed delivery even when they'd been hanging onto it for more than a week.

:o wow, be happy they didn't send it back yet. that is terrible, they really should put into pratice e-mailing people with the tracking number.

All is well. I picked up the passport last night, and took the day off to do our flagpoling at the Queenston-Lewiston crossing. We stopped in St. Catharines to take advantage of the short waits at the Service Ontario and Service Canada locations in that small city (for her OHIP and SIN applications), and can now start to live without any asterisk hanging over us. Whew!

(P.S. Q/L crossing took 90 minutes all in.)

Thanks, everyone! 8^)

I'm a little surprised at how little we've heard from everyone since this thread's active early days. I'll keep watching for updates - but all the best to those who are still waiting!

Our paperwork was received in April, and first part to sponsor was approved in May.
Sept 1st the second part of the application went to 'in process.' The site is down so I haven't been able to check for any updates. Hopefully it will be back up tomorrow.

I am a bit nervous because when the first part was approved, a letter was supposed to be sent out, but nothing was ever received. So it makes me worry for when they send anything else out.

I was never sent any letter when the second portion began. My ECAS status quietly changed and that was that. I eventually filed a query to retrieve the CAIPS and GCMS notes on our case but even that took a month (filed Sep 13, response arrived Oct 13). If it would put your mind at ease, why not pay the $5 and submit your own query.

I'm assuming, looking at the flag on your profile, that you're dealing with the Buffalo office. I've heard of a June applicant that also never got a sponsorship approval letter from CPCM so.....everything's possible ::) As far as being concerned about receiving the PPR from Buffalo, they will almost certainly email it to you. Did you receive an AOR from them?

Not really sure what an AOR is and no, I never did receive any email from them. And if by some reason it went to junk, those are removed automatically.

What is this query for $5? How do I go about it? I don't mind spending money, I mean come on...paperwork already cost a lot. What's another $5. Can someone point me in the right direction? Thank you!

Okay I found steps for it in another thread. BUT, I do not have applicant id # or what have you. If they ended up sending it via email, I never got that. All I have is a receipt number for paying my fees up front.

I'd use your Client ID, if you got that. If not, it sounds like your receipt number will have to do.
