Approved student visa - Do not travel earlier than 3 weeks

Hi all,

My sister's visa and study permit is approved for September. However, she has received this letter telling her not to travel more than 3 weeks earlier than the start date.

Has anyone received anything similar? Is this strictly enforced? We would love her to come earlier and spend the summer with us.

I thought it was 6 weeks, and people have travelled even 2 months before program start date. I think it depends on individual circumstances, for example, if one is traveling with family then they may require more time to settle in

Usually it is 4-6 weeks before the start date. Due to Covid, they may not want students arriving any earlier. There are instances of students being denied entry and being sent back home. Best chance is to come no more than 6 weeks prior to the start date. Will it work...maybe not. She will need to make sure her bank account can show funds to stay and not work.
