Hi,

After receiving the email via online approval for sending the passports to New York consulate by mail, has anyone ever tried to submit the passports in person?

I know from experience that the return of a passport submitted by USPS mail can take 15-20 days. Problem is that I do not have 15-20 days. I need to be in Canada within a few days and therefore, I am wondering if I should travel to NY to submit the passport for stamping in person.

Does anyone have experience with the above situation? Please help.

Thanks a LOT!

Hi,

Did you apply TWP after you just received your TRV? I'm following your post and you receive your pp back March 27 :)

That was for a visit visa.

I am waiting for my TWP right now.
Hi,

So you mean you applied for TRV first? If you don't mind me asking why did you apply separate TRV? You can apply your TWP at the same time they will issue you a TRV if you need it then you don't have to pay separate :)

I applied for TRV cause I wanted a visit visa then. I later decided to work in Canada and hence applied for a TWP.

I am supposed to start working soon and have not heard anything about my TWP. I want to go do in person stamping at the NY consulate whenever I get the online message for visa approval. I was wondering if anyone has tried to do that?

Thanks!

Hi,

IMO it's better to go in-person for visa stamping, it's safe too. There are persons who've done that before. You can read this thread for more info: http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/work-permit-applications-at-nyc-for-2013-t133908.0.html

When did you apply your TWP online? :)

Hi,

How did you apply online? I tried answering the online questions but the end result is I am not eligible. There is a question about current immigration status in Canada: STUDENT, WORKER, VISITOR, TEMPORARY RESIDENT PERMIT HOLDER. I chose VISITOR ....for TRV holder and I believe this triggered the end result of not being eligible.

Again, I tried answering the same question by clicking the TEMPORARY RESIDENT PERMIT HOLDER and it gave me the reference number to proceed. Therefore, where should a TRV holder falls....VISITOR OR TEMPORARY RESIDENT PERMIT HOLDER? An explanation is available by clicking the ? button. However, upon seeing your post that you were able to apply online - a TRV holder...I got confused :'(..

Could you please help clarify....

Even though I have a TRV from Canada, I am based in the United States right now. Hence, the question of current immigration status in Canada is not applicable to me. If I were physically present in Canada then I guess I would have the same situation as you and won't have been able to apply.
