It is amazing to see from people's posts, the online application can be approved as quickly as 6 hours and as long as 2 months!
Can everyone provide a little bit more information on their application, such as where it is applied and what makes you think you could be approved fast.

I will start mine:

my parents applied online 5/29 in US, waiting. they have B2(tourist) visas to US.
my in-laws applied online 6/2 in China, waiting. they have past B2 visas to US and they are renewing their US visas at the same time.

We are leaving for Alaska cruise on 7/24. I'm totally stressed out and crossing my fingers that they can all get their visas in time.

This is my mom's timeline:

March 24, 2014 @ 3 PM - TRV online application submitted
March 24, 2014 @ 9 PM - Passport Request

** Will send her passport tomorrow.

Does that mean she's approved if they requested her passport? Or that's just the norm after submitting online application?

my mother applied online too, sent her passport last MAy 24, 2014, but until now, we have not received her passport back...online status is Application Approved...I sent it thru DHL....it was said to enclose a return envelope for the return of passport..but wasnt able to do so, coz DHL has no Return Envelope service...they do accept Cash on Delivery...Its taking quite long already....I am worried if there was a problem with mailing back to us, simply because I didnt enclose a Return Envelope per instruction..I was confident because DHL was the courier they used to send our passport when we applied under Provincial Nomication.thank you....let me know how long it took ur mom to receive her passport from the time it was delivered.

Applied online 5/29 in west coast of US
PP requested 6/7

I see people either sent their passports to VAC in CA or NY consulate even though they actually live at west coast. I understand that the cic link tells you to send it to VAC but if NY consulate accepts and processes them anyway, why would I pay VAC to do so?

I understand that if you live close to VAC and can drop it off in person, your passport is in a more secure transport channel. However, if I need to mail the passport to VAC anyway, why wouldn't I mail it to NY consulate directly to save myself the VAC processing fee? Really appreciate anyone sharing their thoughts on this ...

Thank you for ur reply.....yes it was through VFS..i contacted vfS...itwas ready for pick up...since were in Zamboanga city..i just sent a return envelope thru LBC...we alredy received the passport..thank God...uhmm.. Did you get your passport back? I had submitted my passport almost a week back and just today the case was update and closed(approved) on my CIC. does this mean my passport was just received or the stamping is completed and I should get my passport today or tomo?

My CIC account shows exactly the same.........

When it has been closed and approved it means that stamping has already been done. It is usually sent back to the CVAC Office the next day.
