Hello all,

Here is my experience regarding work permit extension:

I've work permit upto March 31, 2015 and applied for extension on January 1st 2015. I applied for Open work permit as Skilled worker's spouse. CIC rejected my application on March 3rd, 2015 as I've already applied for PR(Provincial Nominee) and asked me to apply for Bridge Open work permit. So, I did some research in Canada Visa forum and decided to go for flag polling to get the extension.

I travelled from Winnipeg to border crossing at Emerson, Manitoba.

I provided the following documents:
1) MPNP approval letter
2) IMM5802E from employer (Offer of Employment to a Foreign National Exempt from a Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA))
3) Offer letter from my employer (I've permanent offer from MB based employer as Software desighner)
4) Receipt for $230 paid by my employer
5) IMM5658 - Employer declaration form

That is it. I got 3 year extension. I went through several posts in forum, which helped me lot. Thank you all for the information.

All the best for who are going for flag polling :) :)

Hey Congrats, Lucky you....

just wanted to confirm one thing, You mentioned in your post, ""IMM5802E from employer (Offer of Employment to a Foreign National Exempt from a Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA))""

What does that mean what all categories are exempted from LMIA, it will be great if you possibly could share the Information.

Appreciate your help and thanks in advance

Congrats once again.

Have fun.

But at that time your old work permit was still valid. is that correct? My bf has the same situation but he had a close work permit and his work permit was expired on march 31 2015 and his extended wp application refused on June 9, 2015. He received a PNP certificate from Manitoba on March 16, 2015. Could you please inform me what should we do here? Thanks.

Have you applied for WP again? Please let me know if you did it at US/Canada Border as I am also a pnp approved but work permit has been expired. Just wondering if I can apply at border now. I do have multiple entry TRV.

Please let me know.

Thanks.

The problem is his multiple entry TRV is expired as well so he is not brave enough to do that. But currently we are almost finishing to restore his status.

Here is my situation -

My husband and I moved to Québec on a closed work permit in 2012 sponsored by his company. Being a spouse I received an open work permit automatically and worked as a contractor for over a year. August 2015 our work permits were going to expire and we applied for an renewal a few days before with an LMIA exempt as we have a CSQ now. We are still waiting for our renewed work permit to arrive. In the meantime we have also applied for our Federal PR as well.

Now my husband recently found that his position in the company might be getting terminated in January 2016. I have started working for a new employer a month ago and I want to ask my employer to sponsor our work permits as they will not have to go through the LMIA process since we have a CSQ. What is the process that my employer will have to follow? How difficult is the process? Can I apply on behalf of my employer with just a letter of employment? Is it possible at the border?

Any information to help our case is much appreciated.

Has anybot got his restoration of status approved at the border (flag poling)

You can not restore status at POE..unless you are from visa exempt country.

I am from a visa exempt country. Does that mean I can restore status at the border?

Thanks so much

Please advise me.

I have a study permit and my husband has open work permit. My husband already got BC PNP and we have applied for EE PR already. However, our permit will be expired this March 31, 2016. We are planning to go to the border to renew our permits but confused about our status. I have to renew my study permit and my husband has to apply BOWP. Does my husband's employer need to pay $230? Or what would be the procedure?

Do you have a valid TRV when you crossed the border? I have a valid Lmia but my TRV was expired long time ago however I have a valid work permit good until July.

We have Canadian Visa stamp till march 31st 2016 and US visa too.
