Hi Folks!
I have a question and it's breaking my head up
I am an Au Pair from Brazil in US with a J1 Visa and I can stay legally in US until March 28, 2017.
I found a job as a live in caregiver in Vancouver and I already have a approved LMIA and all the documents required except the FBI Background check that will be coming in a few weeks and the medical exam that I can provide at anytime.
I also have a tourist visa to Canada valid until Aug 2019. As I visit Alberta already in 2015.
The time for applying to the work visa here is 13 weeks and it's a lot for me. But I search and looks like I'm positive and have all the requirements to apply from the border.
I live 5 hours from Vancouver and I could easily drive up there and get the work visa at the border.
The agency that is helping me says I can do that and they will help me providing and make sure I have everything and all the documents that I need and I need to pay $155 at the border to apply there. And the results I get right away with the agent of immigration.
The agency the family contracted to apply for the LMIA said I can't do that and have to apply online and wait those 13 weeks.
But I think that the portion of live in caregiver that apply from the border is so small that the family agency doesn't know about it. Most of them apply overseas.
Does anybody have ever apply from the border? It worked? I'm planning going there on the ground and not flying.
Thanks guys
