Hi everyone,
I would like to apply PR while I am still doing my PhD at York University. At the moment, I am at 2nd year and not yet passed the 2 years studying in Canada.
As far as I know, I can only apply in Category of "Skilled worker", because other 2 Cats I can not apply:
Canadian Experience Class: I do not have 1-year experience in Canada (but I have 2-years exp outside of Canada)
Provincial Nominee Program: As I am still studying

My BA and Master majors were Physics in simulation, as same as PhD proposal recently. But I have more than 2 years working experience as a computer programmer. (somehow experiences are connected)
Therefore, I would like to ask:
1. How many percentage can I get PR (just estimation is fine), like just 50-50 or 90% ... What is the deadline (in general) for application?
2. I have a girl friend and who studies at Canada as an international student. What are the advantages/disadvantages if I marry her before applying PR?
Thank you in advance and have a good day!

Yes - if you have at least 1 year of work experience, you can apply for PR through Express Entry / FSW.

No one can tell you the % chance you will get PR until you calculate how many points you have under Express Entry.

Thank you for your helpful reply.
Do I get extra scores when I am doing PhD and Teaching Assistant (270 hours a year, I have total of 540 hours now) at York?
I try to find but it seems that there is no Category I can fit in.

Besides, I try to use the point calculators, I have around 380, quite low because I do not have job offers or any Canadian certificates.

No - you cannot claim experience point for work experienced gained while studying in Canada. So your TA experience cannot be counted as work experience unfortunately.

380 is a low score. Can you increase your score by improving your language test results?

It is a good thing I can try.
Besides, I consider to take one-year diploma but the tuition fee is little high for international student. Is it worth to have a dip/certificate like that?
I know, if I wait until I finish my PhD degree, it is much easier to get PR but it may take up 4-5 years later.
Thanks a lot for helping me!
