Applying "outland" vs "inland" question..

Hello,

I was recently told on here that it would be in my better interest to apply for my residency under "outland" even though I am currently residing in British Columbia with my husband. Apparently the processing times are much quicker. I am from New Jersey, USA originally and I was reading up on applying outland and it is mentioned that even though you may apply within canada as "outland" you must go to a specific office for your interview when the time comes, I hear the location is in Ottawa. I'm not sure how soon they request an interview but seeing as how it is on the opposite side of the country from where I am, its not very convenient. My main concern is that since I am pregnant and am due in June of 2015 I will not be permitted to fly near the end of my pregnancy and if I am requested to do an interview near this time I would not be able to get to Ottawa by plane. SO, does anyone know if there is another office on the west coast that does the interviewing for outland applicants?? Also, does anyone have any idea about when they request the interviews? Thanks everyone! :)
 
Chances are extremely slim you'll be asked to attend an interview. Interviews for outland are only required if CIC doubts the relationship is genuine.
 
no, they are not mandatory. interviews for us citizens are held in LA, NOT Ottawa. a majority of us applicants are waived the interview. interviews are only requested when files are not "straightforward" and there are issues related to criminality, dependants, and the citizenship of the applicant (ie: a us resident, not citizen).

Do not apply inland because of the interview location! unless there is some major issue or concern in your application, 99.9% sure your interview will be waived.
 
If you haven't done the upfront medical before you got pregnant, you won't be able to complete it until you give birth unless you would risk your baby on the xray.

Like the other member said, the chance of requiring interview is small, and also it's not likely to happen to you before completing the medical even in the case that interview is required.
 
I think we will apply outland now and since I have no criminal record and my husband and I have a very detailed application ready we should be okay. As far as the medical exam goes, I did not have my exam prior to getting pregnant as my pregnancy was very much unplanned and a shock. I was wondering if it is possible to have a doctor write a note in regards to not having the xray done if that is even possible? I certainly will not be having an xray while being pregnant, not worth it to me (risking babies health). Otherwise, I suppose we will have a delay and if that is the case than that is fine. :)

An X-ray is mandatory, so your application will just be on hold until it's done.
 
Ya know, I almost got it done when I was able to over the summer but the doctors office suggested I wait since they expire so if it expired by the time they reviewed our application we would have to pay to have another exam so she kind of suggested I wait and I listened. I should have just done it, but oh well!

The medical must still be done before you submit the app. The Panel Physician will do everything except the X-ray and give you a deferral form to have the X-ray done after the birth.

Also, you should speak to your doctor about the actual risks of having the X-ray done. It is generally considered very safe for a pregnant woman to have a chest X-ray with a lead apron over the belly.
