Instruction Guide says all the fields in all forms have to be filled, if does not apply put N/A.

What do I put for dates of birth, marital status of people who do not exist (no spouse, children) - form does not allow to put N/A..

In family information form you do not have to fill all the fields. In that form, it is not mentioned anywhere to fill all the forms.

This is the only official guide.

In this, it is mentioned to follow the forms correctly, the family information form does not ask you to fill all fields and N/A is not to be used.

N/A is to be used
Complete all sections. If a question or a section does not apply to you, write “Not Applicable” or “NA”, except for your name (last name and given names). Refer to questions 1 and 2 under Personal Details for more instructions. The application must be signed and dated.

Sections and fields are different.

Fields are all the individual boxes that can be filled. Sections are the particular subcategory. For example in the main study permit form Employment history is a section. You must complete the section, however, you are not required to write N/A on the 3rd or 4th row if you only have two rows worth of employment history.

If you are filling the form on the computer then the sections that are not applicable to you are automatically greyed out. For example, if you have not had tuberculosis or HIV and you don't have any illness that requires medical attention in Canada excluding medication then the section where you have to write the explanation is automatically greyed out. In a paper application, you have to write Not applicable or N/A manually.

In OP's case, he/she needs to complete the individual sections of the family form but there is no need to fill each and every field of the form. If the information does not apply then you don't have to write anything. You need to follow the instructions below.
