Applying Inland -- Police Record Question

Hi there!

I have just a quick couple of questions to those more knowledgeable than I am myself...
I am a US Citizen and currently reside in Canada with my wife. The plan is that she sponsor me for Canadian Permanent Residence from here, and we would like to get those forms out ASAP because I've already been in Canada for longer than I care to admit.

Now, I just realized that I need to get fingerprint records from the FBI, and that this could take anywhere from 8 to 16 weeks...! If I don't include them, will my application get cancelled or denied, or will they just 'request more information' at the second stage of processing? Does the same go for the medical records?

Lastly, I served in the military from 2003-2007 in a combat arms specialty... will this cause a delay in processing?

Thanks very much for taking the time to read this!

Sometimes they will send a request for them, sometimes they will return the application as incomplete. They won't begin processing until they have them anyway, and you might lose several months if the application is returned, so it's better to get it first before sending it in.

My husband is also a US Citizen and we applied Inland. We sent his application without the FBI/Police check because we were told the same thing 8 - 16 weeks and we weren't going to wait till it came since it was stating it was a 7 month timeline then.

Once we received the FBI/Police checks we were told to mail it to Vegreville with a letter stating to attach it to his PR application. He was told to include his client ID, DOB, my name as sponsor, etc...so they match it with his application.

After a month we called and they have all his Police and FBI checks and medicals attached to his application. He was told that for an Inland application they don't put medicals/police checks/FBI has been recieved due to different departments inputting this information when you check eCas...all it will say is "in-process."

As for the military...it may cause a delay. I am not sure about that, but from other posts I have read government and military positions may be carefully checked over.

I don't think they put information that police certificates were received for outland applications either. They didn't for me, even when they requested additional police certificates. They only entered that the medicals were received.
