Applying from outside Canada

My parents are applying for citizenship but they are out of Canada at the moment. All other requirements are met and they are eligible to apply. 2 questions:

1. Can they apply outside of Canada?
2. Assuming answer to 1st question is yes, what do I put in their physical presence calculator for Date you returned to Canada question since they will sign the forms while being outside of Canada?

2. There is no way to provide the 'end date' of current absence without misrepresentation / physically being in Canada.

1. Hence, you cannot apply for citizenship while living abroad.


However, there has been much discussion on this forum about taking oath outside Canada. You may want to check those out.

You can always send it from anywhere; just put it in an envelope and mail it. That is not a problem. The question is how one deals with the points that have already been raised in this thread.

I don't know about that but the guy just received test invitation from IRCC.

And you will notice that Physical Presence is checked separately and has nothing with the Test. It is Physical Presence that is at issue here as the OP made clear. Has your guy got that box cleared?

I don't know. I didn't ask. All I know is he applied while in China and just got test invitation (still outside). Let's see what will happen to him.

Perhaps you can ask them how they responded to the end date of current absence.
