Hi all, I am totally confused. I am a NZ resident (visa exempt) coming to do a 2-year post doc (LMO exempt), planning on applying for the WP at the POE in 10 days time (gulp). The CIC website says that if the kids are planning on going to school I have to apply for the WP BEFORE I go (which is not possible as its an 8 week processing time). But then I also read that children of those with WP don't need study permits anyway??? i.e 'In some cases, minor children do not need a study permit to study in Canada. These cases include:...minor children who are already in Canada with parents who are allowed to work or study in Canada, and who want to attend pre-school, primary or secondary school'

So:

1. Can I get a SP for the 7 year old at POE?
2. Or - should I enter the kids as 'visitors' (maybe say dad is going to homeschool?) and then approach the school once we are there and enrol them under the exemption clause above?

Would love to have your help! Has anyone done this?

Hi children who will be attending primary or secondary education don't need a study visa it is covered on their visitor visa which is what I was issued for my 2 kids when I arrived in Canada and got our visas from the POE, I am from the UK so am visa exempt too. Don't worry ;). Hope that helps.
