I am applying for Visitor Visa from outside Canada, the paper based application shows 37 days of processing time. There is a chance that within the next 35 days I may resign from my present job and take up a new job. However I will definitely not have have resigned on the day I apply for visitor visa, as I would be submitting employment letter.

My present job has been for 7 years, the new job will also be in my own country. Please advise what is the right approach. I guess there is an employment verification, so I might be employed but resigned and serving my notice period during the visa processing. Suggestions?

Employment verification is possible if the visa officer is not convinced about the authenticity of the employment documents or statements made for employment.

It's best if you state upfront that you intend to take up new employment from XX date. You must include the employment documents of your current employer + resignation letter (stating notice period) + offer letter of the next employer.

Hope you have other strong ties (property, family, etc) because your current situation demonstrates weak employment ties

Thanks Bryanna, I have sufficient properties in my home country, lots of international travels, good bank account. Regarding family ties I am single and have been staying with my mom in my hometown for past 8 years.

As I said I would not have resigned on the day I apply, should I say in my covering letter how much I enjoy working in my own home country and the plenty of job opportunities here?

Statements/assurances will work only if supported by evidence

HI,

I am in the same situation. Currently I am working as Engineer but I got offer from other company which I have already accepted and got the visa on New company sponsorship as I am on Tier-2 visa in UK. I got the employment offer letter from my new employer stating the offer acceptance and the salary and job status as permanent full time position. I will be applying for TRV (tourist) on 28 Oct and will be joining new company on 12 Nov. Can you please guide me what should I do? Also what happened to your application?
Thanks

@fari and @Adamu, Yusuf Adams

The same advice will apply to both of your situations:
It's best if you state upfront.... when you apply for your TRVS.... that you intend to take up new employment from XX date. You must include the employment documents of your current employer + resignation letter (stating notice period) + offer letter of the next employer.

Hope you have other strong ties (property, family, etc) because your current situation demonstrates weak employment ties

Hi thanks for you ans and yes I got all the letters required from my current and new employer but how i can prove strong ties with UK as I still hold Pak passport and in uk I don't have any property I only have 5000£ in account and all of my properties are in Pakistan and as I am single and my family members live in Pakistan. Although the new offer I accepted is from a very big multinational and I have been appointed for a senior level post and they are also paying me well
Any advice please .....

@fari22

You must demonstrate your ties to both the UK and Pakistan.

Your reasons to return to the UK:
apart from your employment ties..... your new job + house/apartment tenancy agreement, highlight any forfeiture clause + your UK bank accounts + if you remit money to your dependent family in Pakistan (proofs of this)

You must also include:
1. Proofs of your UK immigration status: Biometric residence permit (BRP), WP, etc

2. Ties to your Pakistan: Family ties + properties including valuation + if it is rented then rent agreement and 2-3 months rental income + vehicles + financial investments

3. Prepare a 'My Travel History' explanation.... tabular format listing visa details + entry/exit dates + purpose of each visit + scan these visas

4. A day-by-day itinerary for your Canada visit (sightseeing, events, meeting friends, etc).... with expense estimates + include proofs that you can pay for this itinerary + airfare.... from your UK bank account

5. Include 2-3 months credit card statements (if the dues are low)

a. Can you apply for your Canada TRV a couple of months after your start work with the multinational?
b. Do you have a Canadian host who is inviting you?

Cheers

Thank you for such detail answer :)

Ans given below :)

You must demonstrate your ties to both the UK and Pakistan.

2. Ties to your Pakistan: Family ties + properties including valuation + if it is rented then rent agreement and 2-3 months rental income + vehicles + financial investments -

I have some property in Pakistan but just thinking as I am in UK, is there any point showing Pak Property as If i can come to UK with all those properties in Pakistan why can't I stay back in Canada :p (cheeky question)

3. Prepare a 'My Travel History' explanation.... tabular format listing visa details + entry/exit dates + purpose of each visit + scan these visas -

I have a good travel history I have been to France, Monte Carlo, Dubai, UK(on visit in 2012), Germany, Luxembourg, Switzerland, Turkey, Saudi Arabia.

4. A day-by-day itinerary for your Canada visit (sightseeing, events, meeting friends, etc).... with expense estimates + include proofs that you can pay for this itinerary + airfare.... from your UK bank account -

will be fine

5. Include 2-3 months credit card statements (if the dues are low)-

Great I have 2 Credit cards with the available limit £6000 with no balance to pay. will it be enough ?

a. Can you apply for your Canada TRV a couple of months after your start work with the multinational?

Actually my main reason to apply for Canada visa is to apply for US visa (i know it sounds weird) But I want to go to US to meet my friend and I heard the US visa will be more easy if you have Canada visa stamped. Thats why I am applying for TRV first and my planes are to go to US during Christmas breaks. Thats why I have short time as it's already Nov and need to fly before 25 Dec,

b. Do you have a Canadian host who is inviting you?

No I don't have any.

Cheers

Just in addition to my previous post,

Its already been 2.5 years I am in UK on Tier 2 WP and If you live here on Tier -2 for 5 year you become eligible for ILR and I already have the next 2.5 year visa BRP. will this be helpful in any way to get the TRV. previously I was here on student visa and Did MSc engineering from UK.

Just a thought,

Bryanna Need your expert advice :)

As you are not a UK citizen/PR, the visa officer will first assess your ties to the UK.... and if those are not strong enough, s/he will then assess your ties to your original country. That's why you must demonstrate your ties to both countries.

Great I have 2 Credit cards with the available limit £6000 with no balance to pay. will it be enough ?
Perfect. Don't forget to submit your bank statements too.

b. Do you have a Canadian host who is inviting you?

No I don't have any.
You must include provisional flight bookings + hotel reservation (and include these cost estimates in your day-by-day itinerary)

It will help.... but then an ILR is an ILR

So do you have plans to actually visit Canada if you get a TRV?

Or are you applying for a TRV only so it helps you to get a US B1/B2? Also, hope you have factored in the time required to apply/get a US B1/B2
