Applying for Visitor Visa After Spousal PR submission

Hi Everyone,

I know everyone one here must have thought about this at one point or the other. Has anyone been able to successfully receive his Visitor Visa for their wife to visit for 1 or 2 week basis every few months. My wife is currently doing Masters in Europe and can't leave till end of December anyways. So if she can get visitor visa for 6 months she can visit me once every 2 months for about 10 to 12 days. Even if she submits a confirmed itenary of her travels, how high is the possibility of getting a visitor visa.

She tried applying before we got married last year just so that we could meet up. But unfortunately it was denied. Now that we have submitted a Family sponsorship application, is it advisable to try again. How many of you guys have been able to get an approval. Thanks for all the replies .

Honestly, you're even less likely to be approved for a visitors visa now that you've put in the application for PR, sorry.

You can always try, but your odds of success are going to be very, very low.

Thanks for the response. Lets say I try to apply for my wife once again.

If she gets a rejection then how bad does that reflect on her history for PR processing. If that happens then the only option is to apply directly for a visitor visa for the European country she stays in.

I am more confident about getting my visa as I have a steady job at present. But i don't think i can go between projects.

That's why i wanted to weigh the opinions of others who might have had a success rate for applying to the London office.

Yes, I know of 2-3 successful cases who applied for the visit visa after getting stage 1 sponsor approval for their PR. But it's far more common to be denied, especially when the applicant already has a prior refusal. You can always try again - maybe you'll be lucky - but keep your expectations realistic.

Ahhh....So you recommend applying after my Sponsor approval gets processed in Missisauga....Does that make my case a bit more stronger???

If i wait that long then I might as well apply for Visitor visa myself. Since her classes would start and i won't have time off till the middle of the year

The visa officer takes into account all refused visa applications, and they are not viewed favourably. The more an applicant has, the worse it looks. However, one should not be a problem - she should say she was trying to come to Canada to see you. It is true the visa officer has this info, but they don't always look at it, so include it in the application. The second one will be after you have already sent in the application, so will be less of an issue.
Some forum members have gotten a TRV after applying for a PR. They waited until the sponsor was approved, and submitted proof of the applicant's ties to his or her homeland. They also explained that they had applied for a PR visa and wanted to visit their spouse whuile waiting, but would leave Canada before the TRV expired and did not want to do anything to jeopardize the PR visa.

Thanks for all the response. We talked it over and have decided that I would apply for the visa instead in May to go to Europe. Better not to complicate things by getting a rejection.
