Hello everyone

I was wondering if you guys would be able to help me with my visa application. So, I'm thinking of applying for a VISIT VISA for Canada. I've never travelled outside my home country (India) before. As far as my knowledge I would need to prove the following:

1.Strong family ties : My family (mother and father) and the fact that I'm very attached to them as I've lived with them for the past 26 years.
2.Good financial standing : Bank statements (mum and dad's) as I never had any bank account in my name.
3.Reason to visit : To visit my brother who lives in Canada and go see the beautiful cities that he's always going on about and a few tourist attractions like Niagra Falls etc.

I know that there are things that the immigration officer will consider against me are:
1.Travel history :Never travelled anywhere before
2.Family : my brother in Canada

But unfortunately I cannot change these things but I genuinely want to go to Canada and will come back as I've never lived without my parents and my father has a serious illness so I'm their sole caregiver too but I need a little break.

P.S:I'm thinking of visiting for around 3 weeks.

1. Are you employed or studying?

2. Do you own any property or land? Or maybe you have a power of attorney to represent your parents for such matters?

3. Do you have any other siblings who live with your parents?

4. Can you prove that you take care of your dad?

5. Do you have any financial assets in your name/jointly with your parents? For example, FDs, RDs, shares, etc

Thanks Bryanna for taking the time to reply.Following are the answers to the questions you asked:

1. Are you employed or studying?
I'm neither employed nor studying at the moment.I belong to a rural village where girls normally do not work.

2. Do you own any property or land? Or maybe you have a power of attorney to represent your parents for such matters?
I do not own any property myself but I'm positive that I'll be able to get the power of attorney from my parents.

3. Do you have any other siblings who live with your parents?
No, I'm the only other child they have besides my younger brother who's already in Canada.

4. Can you prove that you take care of your dad?
I have an extensive knowledge of his condition and accompany him to his appointments and blood tests etc.Im not sure how I can prove that I take care of him.I'll welcome suggestions on how I can prove that.

5. Do you have any financial assets in your name/jointly with your parents? For example, FDs, RDs, shares, etc
Unfortunately no,but if it's beneficial I can try and add my name to their bank accounts.

IMHO (and based on your visitor profile), the chances of you being approved for a TRV are slim to zero as you do not have any strong ties/reasons to return to India.

Your only ties are your parents (family ties) which balances your family ties to your brother in Canada. If you were married/had young children who were not accompanying your then those would be stronger family ties.

If you decide to apply then you may want to consider these suggestions to establish at least a few ties:
1. Enroll in a recognized study program (not an online course) + study for a few months before you apply.

2. Get a Power of Attorney made + prove that you have used it in a real situation to represent your dad.

3. Open a bank account, or add your name to your parents existing bank accounts+ include a letter of financial support for your visit from your parents.

4. If you are likely to get married shortly then include proofs of booking the venue/catering firm/decorators/inviting relatives, etc
