Applying for visa to leave and come back to Canada (while having work permit)

Hello!

I have previously finished a college and received Post Graduate Work Permit. I am planning to leave Canada to visit my family back in Russia for a few weeks and now trying to apply for Visa.

I am concerned what type of Visa am I applying for. For now, after I have filled the forms in cic, I am filling up "Application to change conditions, extend my stay or remain in Canada as a visitor or temporary resident permit holder", which includes Imm5708 and Imm5707 forms. I am not sure if I am doing the right thing. As well as unsure what to right in the 3rd question of Imm5708 ("Extension of my temporary resident status" or "Restoration of temporary resident status as a visitor")

Hope there's anyone who can help me.
I am only trying to gain a document that I can visit with and come back to the country without a problem

That's not the correct form. You might have to tweak your answers in the questionnaire to get to the Application for Temporary Visitor Visa form. Play around with the questions about "what would you like to do in Canada", "what is your status in Canada", or the country that issued your passport, and country of residence. Or, what were your answers to those questions?

I wrote "visit" in what would you like to do in Canada, as this is why I need visa.
In what is your current status I wrote "worker"
Country of residence is Canada, as I live here now. The code in my passport is RUS.

May be the problem was in the question about what am I planning to do in Canada or my current status...

I was able to get to the temporary resident visa form by selecting "work" in the first question instead of "visit" and using all your other details. Also "stay temporarily for more than 6 months".

I think you got your problem because "visit" in your first choice and "worker" in your current immigration status are conflicting, hence the questionnaire thought you wanted to change your status to visitor.

Thank you! I have tried this and it did work! The only thing that bothers me know that it says Application for Visitor Visa Made Outside of Canada. However, I am in Canada right now. Do you know by chance if that matters?

Huh. I guess if you entered "Canada" as your country of residence in the questionnaire, and you were still led to that page, I don't think it matters.
