Hello everyone,

This is my first time to be here just because I am planning to visit Toronto around July 2017. I am a Philippine government lawyer and my aunt, who has been living in Ontario since 1972, is the one inviting me to visit them so I can meet my cousins as well. I plan to stay for 15 days and I will be staying in their house. Here are my questions:

1. If I intend to go there mid-July 2017, when is the best month to apply for a TRV?
2. The range of amount of money that I should have that will satisfy the visa officer?
3. Does my aunt need to send financial capacity documents too?
4. Do I need to present car ownership documents and investment with Sun Life for documentary purposes?

Whatever suggestions you will have are highly appreciated.

Thank you.

CIC recommends no earlier than three months from the intended visit date.

1 thousand canadian dollars per week after accomodations.

If she is sponsoring you then yes. Nonetheless the CIC officer may very well expect that a "government lawyer" doesn't need to be sponsored.

I don't get this question... where did you get this idea?

Hello Jalex,

Thank you for the response. My aunt will not sponsor me. However, I will be staying in their house so I thought maybe the CIC will need any financial capacity documents from them. I guess her invitation letter will suffice?

Regarding my fourth question, just read from this forum too that to prove ties in my country, it will help if applicant will provide proof of assets ownership? So I thought of my car and some investments.

In addition, is it advisable to purchase round trip tickets before applying for the visa?

Thank you again.

Yes. (I am also Filipino, staying at my relative's house, I showed an invitation letter with my relative's Canadian passport, utility bill and certificate of employment...the last two are optional.)

Yes, they can help if you have them as proof of assets, I believe this is listed in the online document checklist.

No, CIC does not advise this, nor will it help your application.

Hello Bella, thank you for the reply. Must the invitation letter be notarized?

No, CIC does not advise this, nor will it help your application.

This is noted. In lieu of the tickets, I will present my itineraries in Toronto?

Thank you.

Thank you for the responses, Bella! Here are the documents I intend to submit:

1. Invitation Letter from my aunt
2. Cover letter from me (or can this be optional?)
3. Bank Certificate
4. Bank Statements
5. Payslips
6. ITRs
7. COE
8. Approved Leave Form
9. Itinerary

Are these too much or anything I need to add?

Those are fine, but I also suggest including proof of your aunt's status in Canada (passport, citizenship card).

Are you applying online or by paper at the VAC? Because your #2 can be uploaded in the Purpose of Travel if you're applying online.

Noted, Bella!

How many days did you wait for your visa? I intend to visit July 16-30, 2017. Will it be ok to apply around mid May 2017?

Which is less hassle, the online application?

Mid-May is fine. I personally prefer the online application.

This is my timeline:

18 May: Received passport and multiple-entry TRV via courier, in 3 business days

Ok. Based on your timeline, you had your medicals? Correct me if I am wrong that I am not required to undergo a medical since I will be staying for 15 days only?

I submitted my medicals because I had them done for permanent residence, and I reused them for the temporary residence application. I declared it because I did not want to risk misrepresentation (answering "no" if I had medicals done in the last 12 months).

You won't need to submit medicals, don't worry.

No. You have to include letter of invitation, bank snapshot (letter of employment) and copy of photo id.

It helps but if you have a stable job and are only requesting 2 weeks it looks that it will be totally overkilling it.

Letter of employment, letter of leave should be enough.

Not really, it helps but not too much.
