Hello,
I have been dating my boyfriend for nearly a year now and we would like to live together, I have $6000 USD in my bank and many travels to Canada and back over the past year. I have pictures of us together and reciepts. He will also send an invitation letter but I am nervous. He lives with his parents so paying bills during the visit won't be an issue there ( i.e no hotel room, food expenses).
Especially about the 'ties to you home country' thing. I have a seasonal job where I work during the summers only so being able to stay in Canada won't be a problem there but is that ties enough? I have no children but parents and siblings living in the US. Any hints or comments would be appreciated.
Thanks

Yes I am American so no I don't, I found out :D. All I need is to file for an extension later. But I'm not sure when in the six mont period that I should file.
When do I file, do I have to return to the states? As we (my boyfriend and I) will have an apartment in Canada. And I'd also like to get a work permit, if possible. I've been told that's very difficult to get but would it be easier if I had a Canadian address?

You just apply to extend before your 6 months up, they tend to say at least 30 days before but should be able to do it online right up until the last day, providing you apply before 6 months is up you maintain a legal "implied status" until you hear back even if your 6 months is up. They will probably issue you a visitor record upon entry assuming it's the same for US residents as it is for us from the UK and any other visa exempt countries. I don't think having a Canadian address will make it easier to get a work permit, very hard to get as you say, need to be looking at getting PR status then can seek work.

that's what I thought. So I'll have to wait until I have common-law status, or see if I can through other programs as I intend on going PR to Canadian citizenship
