Hello All,

I have been looking for a valid answer all over, but couldn't find a proper one. Apologizing if this question was asked earlier.
I completed my studies in Canada and applied for my PGWP. Meanwhile I came to India for some personal work. Now my TRV has expired and I want to apply for a new VISA.

Q1: Can I apply for a TRV with valid work permit from India?
Q2: When I feel up the questionnaire to determine my eligibility on cic website, one of the question is "Current country of residence". If I answer India, it takes me to apply for PGWP. If I answer Canada, it takes me to TRV.
What should be the answer?
Q3: Also in the TRV application form the same question has been asked. What should be the answer?

It would be really helpful if you have any solution to the problem I am facing.

Thanks

Hi Raul,

I think i replied to you in another thread.
To answer your questions:

1)Yes you can apply for a TRV in india. I did and most of my other country friends did it in their respective countries.
2) & 3) You have the work permit. Now youre applying for the TRV. So in any application, you have to select Visitor only.
In that case i think you have to give country as Canada in the determine eligibility. In the TRV application, you can give India. Because youre applying from India. While submitting your docs, make sure you explain your situation in a one page doc.
Say that u have a work permit and u have come to india to visit ur parents and you're looking to renew your TRV. Add this reason of application doc in the other docs that you will be submitting.

Just one more qs on this:

The form has your current country of residence as one qs and the country you are applying from as another qs. Should India be the answer for both or Canada for first and India for the other?

Hey bud! I am also in the same situtation. What did you select answer in the questionnaire to determine my eligibility on cic website, one of the question 1) what would you like to do in Canada -"Visit" or "Work"?
2) "Current country of residence" - " India or "Canada"?

So you have an approved PGWP that was applied to from outside Canada and you got approval. If so, “For post-graduation work permit applications submitted from outside Canada, a TRV is issued upon approval of the post-graduation work permit.”
https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/corporate/publications-manuals/operational-bulletins-manuals/temporary-residents/study-permits/post-graduation-work-permit-program/travel.html

Or did you apply for the PGWP and then leave Canada? Valid US is of no help as you still need proper documents to enter Canada.

So you applied in Canada, left Canada & friend brought it to you? If so, Can’t do that. You need to a TRV now. Have you applied for it. Even entering a US land border, they will not issue a TRV. Again from the link, I posted.

Post-graduation work permit applicants who leave and seek to re-enter Canada before a decision is made on their application must be in possession of either a valid

  • TRV, when they are from a country whose nationals require a visa
  • eTA, when they are from a country whose nationals are visa-exempt, and they are travelling to Canada by air
.
