Hey folks,

Happy New Year. I hope everyone has a safe and peaceful start of 2022.

Here is a situation in short and I will follow with a question. In 2021, one of my relatives applied for a study permit (she has admission in a college and she has sufficient funding). Unfortunately, her application was rejected because "she could not prove that she will leave Canada after finishing her studies"

My question, with the new changes in 2022, do you think proof that a person wants to go back to his/her country after their study is still required? Any recommendations/ideas?

Thanks in advance for sharing your thoughts, and happy new year!

What did her GCMS notes state? Sufficient funds are just one part of what is required for a study permit. What are the new changes in 2022?

It says that there is no proof that she will return to her country after finishing her studies.

Canada wanted to create a pathway for immigration for international students. So, I assumed they might not require proof that you will go back to your country after studying. Therefore, proof to go back might not be required anymore. Just my assumption.

lolz seriously. DOnt be fooled like that. You cant be a potential applicant when you apply for study permit. If you dont a job back home, you are a potential immigrant

So that is all her GCMS notes said or her letter? Usually says the reasons. Can’t comment as don’t know profile. She has to prove return to home country. There is no new changes to the study permit process.

I think many students come to study in Canada with the intention to find a job and immigrate after they finish their studies, but unfortunately, IRCC rejects many applications as they cannot prove they will go back to their countries. At least, I know 4 people of my relatives who got rejected for the same reason.

Seeing that the new government of Canada clearly stated in IRCC minister mandate letter that they will create a new immigration pathway for international students, then why they would ask international students to prove that they will go back to their countries if they said in their mandate letter we want international students to immigrate? Just logic, no?

that's for international students not intentional immigrants. I understand where you are going with this, but thats how the things are.
