Applying for student visa inside Canada/Spouse OWP

My husband planning to apply for student visa for may intake. We are already in Canada with visitor visa. When Can I receive open work permit and start working as spouse of him?School starts in May, so can I start working in March if they approve our student visa and owp?

Provided he is eligible to change status from within, you start working after your application is approved and sent you WP. You will need SIN number after your WP. Make sure if he can change status from within Canada

Did you by any chance previously study in Canada on a study permit and then get a PGWP? If so, then your husband can apply for the study permit but you will not qualify for an open work permit. IRCC recently introduced new rules that no longer make this possible.
