Hello,

I am currently living in Canada waiting for my CSQ. After I get my CSQ (hopefully), I am planning to apply for PR in Ottawa. Can I leave Canada during the processing time?

Thanks

first you will have to land in QC. A CBSA officer will send your application for a PR card at the POE. They will mail it to your address in QC then.

Yes, and it should be valid for 1 year continuous stay to get you eligible for inland processing.

What about my previous stay? It isn't counted? and if I stay in Canada during the processing of my file, this 1 year (other than the time it takes to process my file, whatever is that) is applied as well to get my PR card? Thanks

I meant if I applied from inside Canada, and I remained in Canada during the processing time which is at least one year, do I need to wait one more year before applying for the PR card?

You will apply for PR card as soon as you get your immigration visa and land. You will have to do flag-polling or book an appointment at local CIC office.

That is relieving, since it takes just 35 (calendar) days for the card to be issued. So, in the best case scenario, in one year one can obtain the PR card, and use it to travel outside Canada.

Thanks for your replies

45-60 days (including transit) is a more realistic timeframe based on recent PR card applications

Still, not very long compared of what I thought would be one year!!!
