Just sharing my story.

CEC Outland applicant in USA
AOR - Oct 2019
MP - Oct 2019
Portal Email request - Feb 2020
COPR Received - March 2020
Expiry date - June 2020
We could not travel bcoz of Covid Restriction. So we contacted IRCC for extension,
Blessed with daughter -Sept 2020
Updated IRCC - Nov 2020
Son diagnosed with mild-moderate autism spectrum- Dec 2020
IRCC responded and added Daughter profile - Dec 2020
Daughters Medical done - Dec 2020
Received Medical Request Again for Me/WIfe and Son - April 2021
Medical Redone- May 2021
Medical Passed for all family except my son - Dec 2021
And the waiting game continues......

Hey, obviously nothing yet. I uploaded the latest progress report from her Speech Therapist on the 17th via webform. I'll keep you and the group posted if there are any responses based on that.

Wow. Read from the beginning. Long process for some of you. Now im in the same boat. They keep saying not to worry its being processed but i finally understand what's happening behind the scenes thanks to this thread. I will know how to question them directly the next time i call. Everything passed except my sons medical and criminality. Notes are due in a week. Fingers crossed.

all. I’m new to this group. Currently planning to apply for immigration but very sceptical given my son has ASD. I really don’t know what grade of autism he has. He is 5.5, no physical disabilities, has considerable speech and understanding delay though. He is currently being given 3 speech therapy sessions PER YEAR by the state and 1:1 at school. No specialist doctor appt, no medication so he really isn’t needing any of the resources that count towards the $21,000 budget. I am a GP in UK, give him speech therapy myself at home and hoping to provide private care if needed in Canada. Reading all the posts I’m now sceptical about applying and if he will be given immigration. Any thoughts? (Also who does Medical? I mean how do the immigration officers decide what grade autism he has and what resources will he be using. Is it based on the reports we provide or are they medically examined as well??

The medical is done with one of the panel physicians listed on the IRCC web site. Your son will go through a medical as part of your immigration process with a panel physician (just like you). It sounds like the only potentially "expensive" part of the support your son may need is the 1:1 support he receives at school (assuming I've understood that correctly).

Separately, I assume you've already researched what it will take to work as a foreign trained doctor in Canada (assuming that's what you want to do). It's a pretty long process and a massive PITA.

Excessive demand extends to both health care and social services. I'm not sure if a teachers aid falls under social services or is classified differently. I'm sure others in this thread will comment.

Ultimately you won't know until you go through the process. However if he attends a regular school, I would say that should be in your favour.

Hi. I was hoping if you could expand on mild moderate autism. My son has autism and not sure what symptoms would make it mild or moderate category. Can you kindly explain your child’s needs/ symptoms. Thank you.

Medicals passed and We were approved yesterday. Fairly quickly since i got the aor Dec 6. Thanks be to God. Now i can breathe.
