i am no expert but if you qualify under FSW 1, it doesn't matter where you are (including Canada). Do you have experience under one of the ministerial list jobs?

this is an excerpt from the CIC website;

"Category 1: For persons in an occupation which corresponds to the list of occupations identified in the Ministerial Instructions and have evidence of one year of continuous full-time (or full-time equivalent) experience in that occupation;"

Does that mean, I should be holding that occupation now in Canada??????

If you have atleast one year of continuous employment during any of last ten years in any of 38 listed occupations, you can apply under fsw1 category. No need to hv canadian experience.

If you have enough points to apply for FSW, there are 3 different categories:

1) You have at least 1 year experience in one of the 38 occupations on the ministerial list

2) You have a verified job offer (AEO)

3) You are studying or working in Canada for 12 months or more

You need to fit one of those categories. If you don't fit number 1, you can look for an employer to apply for your AEO and apply under category 2 or you can wait until you are in Canada 1 year and apply under 3.

Hi,
The thing which confused me is given in Red. "Persons in occupation". I would like to apply to CIO office in Nova Scottia, would it be faster than applying from outside canada?

These occupations http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/apply-who-instructions.asp#list are the ones for Category 1. You need to have at least 1 year experience in one of these occupations over the last 10 years to be able to apply under Category 1.

I don't think it's faster anymore. All the applications get sent to Sydney now.
