applying for new visa while having valid visa

hello friends,

I have student visa which is valid upto july-2018 . I got it last year but couldn't go to canada due to family issue. so i applied for new visa for sep-2018 intake but got rejection. however, i applied second time under spp bcz i had valid visa of last year but got rejection this time. i talked regarding this to many agents and all are giving different opinions on what to do next. i want to know,i

one agent told that you already have valid visa and you could have gone to canada on the basis of it and you can apply for new visa after going there with the help of college. that is why they gave you rejection as you already have visa.can anyone guide me on this opinion?

will my previous also be considered cancelled automatically with refusal of application second time? my previous visa is valid upto july-2018 and i have not cancelled it yet from my side. can i go now on the basis of it?

i think its valid, but it depends on officer on border/airport. when you go there you have to play cool. you can ask to extend your visa from inside, it's still risky.

yes..that is what i also think that it is risky..if they deny, i will have to come back and it will cost me lot..is there any way to get full proof solution or advice on this from authority?

if you are returned from Airport then cost is ticket (some other expenses). but if your visa extension rejected than its more than anyone can bear.

yes, that risk is also there..who knows what they will do there with us that is why i thought to re-apply from india only rather than going there on risk..i talked regarding this with agent but he was not agree with my this concern.. he told, you made mistake..you could have gone there and they issue study permit there..i told them that i have not any documental proof of my reason for coming late to canada..how would i convince them there? and he told that having proof for family problem is not possible in each case and border officer could have understood this.

yes, i m thinking same when you got new offer letter, you must have landed there and joined study then apply extension. i think you made mistake applying from here, but its only speculation nobody knows for sure.
