Hi Forum,
I am an international master student in canada, graduating in 3 months. What would be the right time for my job search??Can I start it right away as it takes few months to get a job or I should wait until I get my PGWP?

Thanks in advance

you can start now.

you can explain your employer that you can start when you get PGWP(if you have a job offer).

You can start looking for jobs anytime but cannot apply for PGWP until graduated. However once graduated and having applied for PGWP you can work until a decision is made. Refer para 186w http://laws-lois.justice.gc.ca/eng/regulations/SOR-2002-227/section-186.html

Nope, you don't need, but need to let your work know that you can start to work when you are approved PGWP.

You can start your job search right away! As long as you apply for a PGWP you're legal to work in Canada (even if your application is being processed while you're searching for a job you can still work under implied status). As user Bs65 mentioned, if an employer has any questions you can always refer to para 186w.

On a side note, remember that the PGWP 90 days period start once you completed your degree requirements. So rather than waiting till your graduation (which could be couple of months or so), you can start your PGWP application once you received your final marks in your program. Of course, you'll need a letter of degree completion and have all the other appropriate documents like your passport.

Best of luck!
