Hi guys,
I'm almost done with doing my application for FSWP in Express Entry, and I had some questions:

1. My letter of reference from one of my employers is dated October 31 2016. Will it be fine, or do I need to get one with an updated date on it? I have five years of work experience regardless;
2. For the medical checkup, what exactly are the tests they conduct? I am asking because I am trying to figure out how much it will cost me
3. For POF, my mother has money set aside for me that will be used for my immigration. So in this case, do I show her bank account balance, as well as a notarized statement from her saying the money is meant for me and she does not expect it back? Or is there anything more?

Thanks!

Letter of reference is fine, obviously the more recent the more safe you feel, but it is sufficient. Throw in your last 6 month's salary slips as well.

Medical checkup needs to be done by CIC approved doctors, they know the tests you are going to take. The cost will depend on your location. When booking appointment make sure to check if they have E-Medicals and also tell them you want to do an Upfront Medical Exam for PR

For POF, get the money transferred from your mother's account to yours asap. You cannot show someone else's account as POF. You will also need a declaration from your mother that the money is a gift without intention of return. You can also do up a gift certificate and get it notarized to be more safe. There's a thread about this in the forum, search it up.

Thank you!
I have one question about the PoF, I just moved back home, and I don't have an account here in this country, since the last time I lived here was when I was still a minor and didn't need an account of my own. So I can get an account opened in my name tomorrow without issues, I don't mind, but my question is, will it look a bit weird that I had an account opened up specifically right as soon as I had to demonstrate my PoF? Should I have a letter of explanation to explain the circumstances?

Yes, it would be weird but that's the only option you have. I suggest you open an account as soon as possible and provide letter of explanation after ITA.

Please take a look at this thread for better idea on POF, as I don't have any personal experience in regards to the "gift" scenario of POF:
