Applying for eTA got "DECLINED - TRANSACTION NOT APPROVED" when I went to pay.

Hi,

I'm planning a trip to Canada from the UK and after filling in the form to apply for the eTA and going to pay I got a page pop up with red writing on it saying, "DECLINED - TRANSACTION NOT APPROVED". On the Canada.ca website where you apply for the eTA, it states that they accept Visa Debit cards, which is what I will be paying with. Will I have to wait until I get an email from them to fill in the form again? Or can I just fill it in again now? I'm sure I filled it all in correctly, and the payment was the only thing that went wrong.

I think you can try to pay with the same form again if you log out and clear the cache. Do you have another credit card you can try?

I don't unfortunately, this is the only card I have... Is it possible for a member of my family to pay if it gets declined again? I would assume it only matters that they get the money for the eTA and not be bothered where it comes from?

Never mind, I've just applied again and its been approved this time. Thanks for your advice!

You can use any card personal or family/friends. Make sure u check the settings of ur cc and enable online purchases on cards setting plus international purchases on.
