Hi,

I just received ITA under EE. I have CEC application in process at the moment.
one of the question i'm being asked is" Have you applied for PR before?"
I'm assuming I should answer with a "Yes".
If anyone had similar experience. does having an application already in process affects my EE application?

Thanks.

You should delete your EE profile as you have already applied for PR via CEC. To apply twice under the same name and same details is committing fraud. Not saying you purposely did this but I'm sure CIC will not process both your applications with exactly the same details in it when you get an ITA.

The reason I applied for EE is that processing times for CEC application is almost 2 years right now.
Taking what you said in consideration. I should withdraw my CEC file before applying under EE.

Before you do this check what stage your application is at. If it's say 95% completed why would you want to withdraw it? You would have to wait and go through the entire process again.

No harm in applying simultaneously. Answer Yes to that question and mention your UCI.

You are correct. I just got off the phone with CIC agent. She sent me an e-mail with the following info:

Sir, Madam,

Thank you for contacting Citizenship and Immigration Canada. I am pleased to follow up on your request:

Multiple permanent residence applications

If you are applying to immigrate to Canada, there are many immigration categories available to you. Please note that the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (IRPA) does not prohibit multiple applications, as long as you do not submit more than one application in the same category*.

Before a final decision is taken for one of the applications, the responsible office will advise the applicant that the other application has to be withdrawn for the confirmation of permanent residence to be issued; it must not be issued if a second application remains in process.

*For example, you may apply simultaneously for two different streams in the economic class category (e.g., Federal Skilled Worker (FSW) and Provincial Nominee Program). However, it is not advised to apply simultaneously for two different sub-categories within the same category (e.g., valid offer of arranged employment and international student enrolled in a PhD program in Canada in the FSW category).

Hi,

I am also in same situation. I applied under EE because the old CEC is taking long time. I am September 2014 CEC applicant and got invite for EE yesterday.

I chose yes for any previous application.
