[tr][td]Hello everyone,

I want to apply for citizenship ( I have been in Canada for 1200 days & have third party language proof/CLIP) here is some question that I would appreciated if you answer them:

1. IS it OK to fill out the form with PDF and some parts with pen?

2.How to fill out the section 6.F ? I get confused . I haven't work for last 4 years .First 3 month of my 4 years period , I was in other country , waiting for immigration process so what do I need to put for that here?

Have you worked in the past four (4) years? NO
Have you studied or attended an educational institution? yes

1. Yes it is OK to fill out part of the form electronically and part of it by hand/pen.

2. I am unclear about your question here...if you were unemployed (regardless if you were in the country or outside) than you would simply state Unemployed - Out of Country I assume.

3. Yes it is OK for you to travel after you apply for citizenship, however you must keep in mind that CIC may send you correspondence by mail to the address in your application (which I assume would be your address in Canada), and if you miss an important correspondence there may be some consequences (such as missing the deadline for RQ).
I personally would avoid travelling while my application is in process, unless of course it is for a family related emergency.

Hope this helps somewhat.

Thanks rmust and thecoolguysam for your responds.

1. So those reasons ( Seeking a job , In process to immigrate to Canada , summer break or In college waiting list) are correct reasons ?Can I write these reasons ?

2. In instruction it says :
you must indicate the reason for being unemployed and confirm the dates of your unemployment under "Work/Education"
Is it ok to just put date under WORK/Education and reason under Employer or school attended ?

3. For day of unemployment I can just put like this : Is it correct?

2013-06 2013-12 2013-06-01 to 2013-12-31 unemployed -Seeking a job , In process to immigrate to Canada , summer break or In college waiting list

4. Is there any program to assist low income people to pay their Citizenship fees? ($ 630 is too much for a student)!!

1. You are the best judge to know what should be the reason. Provide any genuine reason that you know. That's all.
2 & 3 Yes. That's what i showed you in the example
4. Unfortunately not. Please call the cic call centre to check if there are any options(as far as i know there are not). call them at 1-888-242-2100

Im filling out my form too as i want to apply next month.

Summer break/any break/vacations don't fall under unemployment. by definition a NOT working person is called unemployed when he/she is available to work and seek to work. same consideration is for EI eligibility. while visiting/break outside country mean not available to work.

I have same issue in filling out 6.F section of application form

from to work/edu emp/sch city, country

2013-08 to 2013-12 | Worked as Technician | abc employer name | Toronto, Canada
2013-05 to 2013-07 | Worked as Technician | xyz employer name | Toronto, Canada

35 days (2013-07-15 to 2013-08-20) in between these jobs, I was out of country. I took flight on next day I lost my job with xyz company and started job again with abc company on next day of my arrival.

these 35 days I would mention in residence calculator as out of country

please check critically and let me know if any correction I can make?

yes list of absences should be mentioned in residence calculator.

Now there could be two scenarios:
1. You were employed however went out of country while being employed then in application form you will mention your employment details in work/education history and in residence calculator you need to mention your absences from canada for that period.

2. You were unemployed and went out of country as well. In that case, you need to mention that you were unemployed in your work/education history on application form and in residence calculator you need to mention your absences from canada for that period.

You don't need to leave gaps between the 4 years of the work/education history else your application might be delayed. In the section it is mentioned that do not exclude any period of time during the past 4 years.

While on break/vacation while staying in canada is not called unemployment however in the work/education section you need to mention that you were on break/vacation and need to specify the dates as well.

I hope this clarifies your doubt

as you were not working in Canada and you were not on unpaid or paid vacation from your employer in canada, it means you were unemployed.

If you were in your home country while being unemployed, you need to mention that into the work/education section along with the dates when you were unemployed and city country would be your country where you were that time (i think your backhome country) and same dates needs to be mentioned in residence calculator.
the reasons you specify in section: work/education while you were away to your country backhome, same reasons needs to be specified in residency calculator so that the information is consistent on both sides.

If you quit the job to go to home country, you can specify that quit the job to go to home country for such and such reason

if you were laid off then you can say that you were unemployed and went to home country for such and such reason

Thanks, It is clear now.

Two other question :

1. it is not necessary to put YYYYY/MM/DD for education and college same as unemployed. (only YYYY-MM needed for education) , am I correct?

2. I have traveled to 3 country , I mentioned it in residence calculator and one of my trip to the USA was during my unemployed time and other 2 trip was during my college classes(got permission) . Should I mentioned it in Work/Education history?

for example :
2013-06 2013-12 yyyy-mm-dd to yyyy-mm-dd unemployed -trip to the USA

2013-06 2013-12 yyyy-mm-dd to yyyy-mm-dd unemployed -trip to the USA
Yes that is correct. for education and work you can use yyyy-mm to yyyy-mm. there is no need to specify the days.

For usa trip do the following:
For unemployment you have to use yyyy-mm to yyyy-mm and also yyyy-mm-dd to yyyy-mm-dd
2013-06 2013-12 yyyy-mm-dd to yyyy-mm-dd unemployed (specify reason for unemployment, trip to usa should not be a reason for unemployment, unless if you quit the job to go to usa for a trip)

In residence calculator, you need to specify that you were away to usa for a trip and include dates as well

For two trips while you were studying, mention the times you were studying in work/education history section and mention details in residence calculator stating from what to what date you were away.

Eg. yyyy-mm yyyy-mm education employer/school name

In residence calculator: mention dates you were away.
