Applying for BOWP while PR application is in progress under EE

Hi guys, I am trying to apply BOWP while my PR application is in progress under EE since my current work permit will be expired late in May.
I have sent my PR application online in early February, it has being 2 months now, and I am start to worry about applying extension.
So I went online and tried to apply, got the reference code through the eligibility determination system that CIC provides on its website. When I logged in MyCIC account, put the reference code in and tried to apply, it said "you already have a application in progress" on the Error Description. I was confused.

What is that mean? is that mean I can not apply the BOWP online while my PR application is under reviewing?

Below is the current status of my PR
Application/Profile status; Open
Review of eligibility; Review in progress
Review of medical results; Pass
Review of submitted documents: no additional documents are needed at this time
Scheduling an interview: not needed at this time
A background check is needed: not needed at this time
Final decision: not started

is anyone out there knowing why? and how would be able to apply BOWP online under this circumstance?

Check if you have a visitor visa/study permit/work permit application pending in your MyCIC account, or you previously did any of those before.

Hi bellaluna, the only ongoing application is my PR.
I have tried to apply BOWP online, but the system only offers me Express Entry. I think that's the reason why when I put the reference code in, it says I already have a in progress express entry application.

Do you know how to apply BOWP? Is it only can be done by paper or it can be done by electronically as well?

OK, I see. I thought for a while it may have been you had an incomplete/unfinished temporary visa/permit questionnaire (not under ongoing applications).

Sorry, I'm not familiar with BOWP applications, I've never worked in Canada.

I will also be submitting a BOWP application later this month or next month.

Have you tried this link as yet? There is an option to apply online, although I have not had the practical experience of doing it as yet. Appreciate if you could let me know how it goes.

I applied for BOWP on March 18 with the same MyCIC account and didn't have any issues at all.
Check out this link for Eligibility and it will direct you to your CIC account and start from there.

Hi, Audrey, thank you for the link regarding to my BOWP question.

So I did go through the same process, but it didn't work. Got a reference code and use it when I am applying BOWP online, but it just always comes up and says "you already have a in progress application". One thing I noticed is that, when I do the eligibility check, the systems always says I eligible for Express Entry which, yes, I already have one in progress, but that's not what I wanna apply for.

The other thing is, when I logged in my account and do the eligibility from there, is wont let me go through because of the System is down. Maybe that's the reason why???

So I wonder when you were applying your BOWP, how did you do it?

There must have something you missed during filing out. You may also create another MyCIC account for your BOWP application. It'll sure work out for you. I personally have another account when I applied for PGWP last 2013 and the account is still active.

Hi, I just went through a part of the process (just now) for practice as I will have to go through it later this month. For the question:

How long do you intend to work in Canada? Did you select:

1) Less than 6 months or;
2) More than 6 months

To me 'Less than 6 months' is the correct answer. Appreciate any feedback from @audrey888 or anyone else who went through the process.

Hi, I guess it should be more than? I am not sure, I just realized I selected permanently instead of others, maybe that's why it kept saying "you are eligible for Express Entry"... let me try again...

Hey, that's a good idea.
I think I answered one question wrong which caused all the confusing. The question of how long you plan to stay in Canada, I selected permanently, I think maybe that's why...
I will try again with selecting different answer and see, if it still doesn't work, I would create another account.

Well, I think it depends when you submitted your application. if your application already in progress status for couple months like mine, it would say select less than? or you could do more than....???

Hi, do you think I should wait until it says Review of Eligibility: Pass, or I can just apply BOWP now?

You can apply now, in most cases, they'll have completed the R10 check by now.
Your eligibility review won't be passed right until PPR or the application is closed.
