Hi all,

Pleased to meet online. I've applied for an outland spousal sponsorship for my wife who is living in India in July 2022. I haven't received an AOR1 yet but would like to know once I do receive an AOR1 , is it possible to apply for a TRV without hampering the Spousal Sponsorship process?

Thanks.

You don’t need AOR to apply for a TRV. To get a TRV she needs to show that she is not yet moving to Canada:
- ties to home country (job letter with leave, business)
- funds (her own funds to support a visit)
- travel history to UK, US, NZ or AUS

Hi,

Thanks for you response.
So the truth is, I actually WANT her to move to Canada asap. Based on what you're saying, applying for a TRV won't be the right thing to do in that case?

You can definitely apply for the TRV. However for the TRV to be approved, she will need to show ties to her home country. There is nothing wrong with trying for the TRV.

Sorry it seems that I mis-interpreted what you were saying. I think you meant, she just needs to show that she'll be returning to India after a short period of time(6 months?) to get a TRV.

CBSA decides how long she can stay if approved. If you ask for a long visit then it most likely will be refused. She needs to show a short visit (3 weeks) with funds to support the visit. She needs to show that she will return home after the visit so her employment letter with approved leave, business ties, properties to maintain. And travel history.
