Applying for a open work permit from India

Hi All

i have a Canadian visitor visa valid till October 27 2014. i got this visa via my husband who works there and his Visa is also valid till same date as i mentioned( i got visa as his dependent).

Now, can i apply for a open work permit from India? as am planning to travel this month end. After reaching Canada it may not be possible to apply as my VISA validity will be less than 6 months.

Let me know what best i can do to get open work permit.

Hi

Even if you apply from INDIA .. It will take at least 20 working days to process it if you submit all the docs along with Medicals.
So possibility is very less as it is just 6 months period is left.

Even in Canada, If you want to work, Most of the employers(99%) will see at least 6 moths validity of visa. So by the time you reach Canada, your visa validity will be less than 6 months.

I afraid that it may not be approved, if you apply when you are in INDIA.
I'm in Canada on Open Work permit from past 2 months. So I experienced that most of the employers look for PR and Citizenship candidates for employment. They will only recruit Open work permit candidates if the visa validity is more than6 months or more.

Better after gng to canada u apply for owp if your husbands wp extends.

Dnt take any chance in India its taking lots of time.
