Applying for a New Employer

Hi! My new Employer already applied the LMO, and my current Work Permit from my past Employer is still valid for 8 months,What am I planning for is to take vacation overseas. Is it possible once my new LMO arrive can I process for a New Work Permit back home? Can I still go back to Canada, even though I was not able to finish my past work permit? Thanks!
