Apply with or without spouse/family?

I am getting a CRS score of 458 without spouse and 442 with spouse. I am planning to immigrate with my spouse, two children and my mother. I am planning to land alone, get myself a decent job first. Only then my family would be landing in Canada. Which would be the best approach?

1. To apply without spouse/family and get a PR for myself first. Later apply for the family through the Family Sponsorship program.
2. Apply for everyone in a single go with the family as co-applicants.

Are there any advantages/disadvantages in these two approaches you could think of? Will there be a difference in the fee that needs to be paid to CIC?

Option 1 will take a long time for your family members to obtain PR.
With option 2, it's a one time hassle for you and your family and plus the amount of time taken to get PR will be the same - either you apply alone or with your family.

Note that you can only include your spouse and children in your application. You cannot include your mother. You will only qualify to sponsor your mother once you have become a PR and have worked in Canada for several years. From the time you become a PR, you should assume it will be a minimum of 8 years (quite possibly more) before your mother can become a PR.

Im not an advocate of distance in marriage but it seems u already made up your mind not to land with them. (Wife and child) so maybe u can do it alone (u have a better chance of ITA with scores posted)...u land and work and settle like u planned and file for them....which could take a really long time depending on ur region...

if you are applying for your spouse and kids also same time, then won't you have to do the landing procedure also together? Or can other family members can do the landing later once he gets job and settles down.

Yes. They can land after the PA but they must land before the expiry date mentioned on their COPR. Typically, this date is either 1 year from the date of medicals or passport expiry date, whichever is earlier.

But they can land in Canada and they can then return to your home country straight away. Just costs money, but might be preferable to sponsoring them later.

Just note that any permanent resident should spend at least two years out of every five years in Canada in order to easily maintain the PR status.

Think of his CRS too. with 458 he has chance of getting ITA. with 442 may be he ll have to wait more than 1 year to get ITA. So its better to get ITA and be done with it. His family sponsorship ll take about 1 and half year. by then he can settle there.

Decide accordingly!!!
