Hi there,

I'm going to apply for the extension of my stay in Canada while waiting for my PR to approve. They ask me to submit a proof that a medical examination was completed by a doctor (Panel Physician) which I have submitted that along with my application 3 months ago. Can I tell them my UCI no. showing that I'm in process of PR application and have already submitted the proof of medical examination or do I need to pay and do it again?

Thank you very much for helping!

I think you should notify them that you had your medical done already. Medical tests are valid for 1 year so you shouldn't have to redo it again. What kind of an extension are you asking for? We didn't need to submit any medical requests for an 1 year visitor extension. So I thought it was odd of them to ask you for a medical test unless it is for a work visa extension. In any case, you shouldn't have to redo it as your medical result is valid for 1 year.

I'm applying using the online tool for 1 year extension, I need to upload the application forms, and support document

1. Application to Change Conditions, Extend my Stay or Remain in Canada as a Visitor or a Temporary Resident Permit Holder (IMM5708)
2. Proof of Means of Financial Support
3. Passport or travel document
4. Proof of Medical Exam
5. Digital Photo
6 Visitor Record fee $75

Strange. I applied online for an extension of my visitor status (I'm American) while my PR application was in progress. There was no mention of a medical exam, which I had not yet done at that time. Nor was there a request for a photo. I remember they asked for proof of financial support (sent my husband's pay stub showing his year-to-date income). I think we also had to submit a copy of my passport.

Are you from a non-visa-exempt country, or changing to a visitor from some other status?

We provided a copy of the IMM 1017 when we sent the request for extension
The application was sent on June 29th as TRV was expiring on July 31st and we received notification on Aug 26th that the visa was extended until July 30th, 2014

We had to submit a digital photo

You can find on the document check list IMM5484E

I'm originally from Hong Kong, have both Hong Kong passport and British oversea passport, both passport can let me stay in Canada without a visa for 6 months and it was how I came to Canada and I only got a stamp on my passport showing when did I enter.

I just want to extend my visitor status from 6 months to 1 more year after my visitor status is expired

thx!.

I was so stupid I forgot to scan my IMM 1017 as it was the last thing I was waiting for, so I was rushing to send my application the day when I got it from the Dr. and forget to scan a copy for myself. Stupid stupid stupid!!! :'(

I clicked on your link provided. There is a checklist for TRV extension for in canada applicants and there is no mention of a medical test required.

For those applying outside canada, it listed as "optional: proof of completion of upfront examination..."

I also want to ask, did you guys write on the application the purpose to visit is other - (wait until my permanent residency is approved) or just pick Tourism at the scroll down menu?

thanks

I stated that I wished to remain in Canada while my inland application for Permanent Residency under family class sponsorship was processed. I asked for a full year and received it.

In my wife's case, we wrote tourism. That was what the purpose of my wife's visa. To visit canada. So we wrote "tourism". When my wife entered Canada, she was treated as a visitor so was given 6 months limit. When we applied for extension, we wrote tourism as original purpose as that was how CIC saw my wife when she entered first time.

The "other" opþion was I think meant for special cases not listed in application like "TN visa" or visas not listed but granted.

CIC will know you are applying for sponsorship under the visitor visa of applicant.
