Apply for TRV in Canada and get the sticker in China?

Hi there.

I'm travelling back to China in June since I haven't seen my families there for three years but has to start working in Toronto in July. I just got my post-grad work permit via port of entry, but my TRV is expiring soon. If I apply for TRV here, I probably won't be able to go back, if I apply for TRV in China, I might not be able to come back to Canada in time.

So, is it possible to apply for TRV online here, and if the visa is issued, by which time I would already be in China, I can simply send my passport to Shanghai VAC to get the visa sticker?

you need to speak to a CIC agent as not sure it is that easy.

Why, can't you get it stamped while you are in Canada? Current processing time is 7 days.

Apply for the visa in Canada and then leave for China. Applying for a visa there could take a lot more time. It is safer for you to do it in Canada and then you can visit your family with complete peace of mind. Good luck!

I can't really get the sticker here because I think CIC tends to be slow on issuing the sticker and sending the passport back. It might only take 7 days to process the application online but it could take way longer to get the passport back. Last time I waited for an entire week after sending my passport out.. I did place a prepaid envelope but they just didn't use it.

I applied TRV within Canada on first week of May, but till now no response from CIC. I also want to travel and come back.
